Paradise Valley Celebrates 64th Anniversary

The Paradise Valley Town Council, with help from the Historical Advisory Committee, celebrated the Town's 64th Anniversary at Thursday's Town Council meeting with a brief presentation and delicious cupcakes for all in attendance.

Happy birthday, Paradise Valley!

The Public Works team works diligently year round to keep Paradise Valley beautiful with well maintained roadways and medians, ensures our washes remain clear, maintains Town facilities and streetlights, and so much more.

This week, Mayor Stanton and the Town Council recognized their countless contributions through a proclamation recognizing and celebrating National Public Works Week.

This year’s Public Works Week theme, “People, Purpose, Presence,” highlights three cornerstone ideals that motivate public works professionals to serve in their communities every day. Meeting the needs of people is what gives public works its sense of purpose. Many times, public works professionals will never meet those whose lives have been impacted because when things are going right, no one knows that public works is there. Yet, with or without fanfare, public works is ever present, working in the background to advance quality of life for all.

Thank you, Public Works team, for working around the clock, in ways both large and small. We appreciate you!

On May 17, 2025, Chief Freeman Carney, Commander Joseph DiVenti, and Sergeant Kelly Ingram teamed up with members of El Mirage PD, Gila River Fire Department, and Buckeye PD for a Special Olympics volleyball tournament against the Arizona Monsoon Unified Volleyball team.

This incredible event raised awareness and funds for Special Olympics Arizona and gave our team the opportunity to connect with the community while supporting the Monsoon Team as they prepare for the 2025 USA Volleyball Open National Championships in Denver, CO.

They had a great time on and off the court!

Special Guests Tour Town Hall

Mayor Stanton served as a tour guide for special guests at Town Hall this week. The Gohel family won a raffle for a day with the Mayor which included a behind the scenes tour of Town facilities, with extended stops in Public Works, the Municipal Court, and the Police Department.

After witnessing the court in action, the Gohel family got to meet with Judge Nagel, who taught them all about being a judge in Paradise Valley, and they got to try their hand at manning court security.

Our public works team pulled out the heavy equipment, giving the kids a chance to man the water truck, and witness the team climbing to the skies in the bucket truck. The Public Works staff loved watching the joy on the families face as they toured the equipment in the back lot.

At the police station, they got a firsthand look at the tools our officers use daily, met our professional and administrative staff, and toured our dispatch center—asking great questions along the way.

The visit continued with a walkthrough of our holding facility and an up-close look at our new patrol car and the gear our officers use on duty. To top it off, the family got to try our virtual training system and experience one of the more exciting parts of officer training.

The best part? The kids said the tour was even better than going to the zoo! We’ll take that as high praise.

Mayor Stanton and Council welcomed them back for Thursday's Town Council meeting, where they led the pledge of allegiance and addressed the Council, declaring Paradise Valley the greatest Town in the Universe!
