New! County Property Alert Service System

Property Fraud occurs when someone records a document affecting ownership of your property without your knowledge or consent. For example, a fraudster may use a forged signature to illegally transfer ownership of your property.

We received a notice from the Westchester County Clerk's Office about a new program in which homeowners can voluntarily register properties they would like to monitor. The County has requested that we pass this along to residents, hoping this information will help to prevent, or more quickly stop, deed theft. Please see the flyer below for details or contact the Westchester County Clerk's Office with any questions. To register for the program, click here.

Bryson Street Has a Sidewalk!

Last week, a new sidewalk was completed along Bryson Street, giving residents a safe place to walk where there had been no sidewalk before!

Just a short walk from Murray Avenue School, this busy stretch of road had become a concern for residents, who requested a sidewalk to help keep children and families safe on their walk to school. We heard you! Town Engineer Robert Wasp reports that the project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.

Neighborhood children, happy to have a sidewalk, applauded the Town's efforts by joining in the ribbon-cutting.

The Town Celebrates America's Semiquincentennial!

The Town celebrated the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence with a ceremony in Memorial Park.

Following my welcome, local veterans’ organizations presented the Color Guard. Gail Boyle, past president of the Mamaroneck Historical Society, delivered the keynote address highlighting our community’s role in Revolutionary War history. Marcus Jackson, local singer and Mamaroneck Chorus member, delighted the audience with two beautiful songs.

Town Clerk Allison May unveiled the Town’s time capsule, which will offer future generations a "snapshot" of life in our community in 2026 when it is opened in 2076. Hundreds of students contributed letters to the future, while Town staff, current and former elected officials, senior citizens, residents, and community partners donated items reflecting our time.

Following the ceremony, attendees walked up the hill for the ribbon-cutting of our new Semiquincentennial Garden. Thank you to Elizabeth Aitchison of our Conservation Department for reaching out to Larchmont Nurseries, which generously donated both the plants and the labor to bring this beautiful garden to life.

Finally, thank you to Deputy Town Clerk Laura DeMuro for the many hours she spent creating the time capsule.

Larchmont Public Library is 100 Years Old!

Rounding out the weekend, I was honored to speak at the Centennial celebration of the Larchmont Public Library!

For 100 years, the Library has been an important part of our community. As times have changed, the Library has continued to grow and offer new services, while remaining a welcoming place for everyone.

As Supervisor of the Town of Mamaroneck, I'm proud of our partnership with the Village of Larchmont in supporting the Library. This joint support is our investment in our children, our families, our seniors, and the future of our community.

Congratulations to the Library on this special milestone. Thank you for all you do for our community.

Fall Festival

What a terrific way to kick off October! The Town's Fall Festival was fabulous! Thousands of people enjoyed food trucks, live music, local craft vendors, a pumpkin patch, a hay bale maze, first responders, touch-a-truck, puppies, and so much more! And of course, we ordered perfect weather! It was a great afternoon of fall fun for everyone! Thanks to the Town staff, especially the Recreation Department and the Fire Department, for making this a wonderful event for all.

Visit to Derecktor Shipyard

Earlier this month, along with Town Councilmen Jeffery King and Darren Moss, I attended a presentation at Mamaroneck's Derecktor Shipyard about the R/V Brewer, a teaching vessel that Derektor is constructing on behalf of Soundwaters, a nonprofit dedicated to environmental education and stewardship of Long Island Sound. The vessel will enable them to teach an additional 10,000 students per year. It was fascinating to see the 50 foot catamaran under construction and learn about the process and decision-making that went into the final plans. Looking forward to the launch this spring!

TMFD Inspection Dinner

The Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department Inspection and Dinner on Friday, October 23rd, was the kickoff to a busy weekend in Town. Just before the dinner, the Department's personnel and equipment were "inspected" by the Chiefs and the Town Board to see that all were in excellent condition and ready for service. The Inspection is about more than just checking equipment; it's about the people who show up when the rest of us are told to stay back, the ones who step forward into the smoke, into the storm, and into the unknown. Every time the TMFD responds, whether it's a fire, a car crash, or even a community event, they remind us of what service truly means. They remind us that being part of the Town isn't just about living here; it's about looking out for one another.

On behalf of the Town Board and the entire Town of Mamaroneck, I want to thank the TMFD for their courage, their compassion, and their commitment. They make us proud every day.

The "Old-Timers!"

Coffee with a Cop

The first week of October was chock full of events. Town Councilmen Jeffery King and Andrew Regenstreich and I attended “Coffee with a Cop” at the Nautilus Diner. The event, designed to enhance relationships between our law enforcement officers and residents, gives community members a chance to chat with our local police officers in an informal setting. Thank you, TMPD, for all you do for us every day!

Town hosts 6th Annual Repair Cafe

On October 18th, Town Board members Andrew Regenstreich, Darren Moss, Robin Nichinsky, and I attended the Repair Café at the Town's Senior Center. In addition, Town Clerk Alli May volunteered at the “Native Plant, Houseplant, Seed Swap” table.

The idea behind the Repair Café concept is a simple one -- neighbors helping neighbors to keep fixable items out of the waste stream. I'd like to thank Mark Kramer and Kevin Crowe of the Town's Sustainability Collaborative committee who -- with planning assistance from the Village of Mamaroneck's Committee for the Environment and the Village of Larchmont's Environmental Committee -- organized and participated in this event.

A total of 66 visitors to the “Café” brought 156 broken/torn items and sat with our “fixers,” who did their best to repair them. The results? 133 items, or 85% of the items, were fixed! Popular items were lamps, clothing, wooden furniture, and costume jewelry. Thank you to our 17 fixers and a whopping 21 additional volunteers (including high school students) who helped. It was a wonderful event. The Repair Cafe will return next October.

A big thank you to our fixers and other volunteers for making another successful Repair Café possible!

Central School and Murray Avenue School Second Graders Visit Town Center!

Also in October, we had the pleasure of hosting both schools' second-grade students, when they visited Town Center to learn about local government. First, Town Supervisor Jaine Elkind Eney and Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Department Superintendent Jill Fisher explained their roles to the grade.

All students visited the Town Police Department with Detective Amy LaRosa and Police Officer Brendan Ward and the Town Clerk’s Department, with Town Clerk Alli May and Deputy Town Clerks Jennifer Rodriguez Gonzalez and Laura DeMuro.

Central School students also heard from our Ambulance Corps EMTs, Sonya Cronin and Carolyn Dorfman, as well as the Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department's Lt. Houghtaling.

The Murray Avenue second-graders climbed into our Highway Department's "the Claw" payloader truck, courtesy of Motor Equipment Operator Joe Alimena. Town Judge Ron Meister talked to the students about his position and cautioned the youngsters to obey the law!

Based on the shrieks and smiles, being "locked" in the jail cell was, once again, the trip's highlight! All in all, two terrific mornings with the Murray and Central students and their teachers, parents, and chaperones!

LGCA Celebrates Halloween

This past Sunday, the Larchmont Gardens neighborhood was filled with spooky creatures, goblins, and jokers as residents gathered for the annual Halloween party, expertly organized by the Larchmont Gardens Civic Association. I was delighted to join in the fun and festivities!
