Family Day Celebration to Proceed

The Family Day Celebration will return to Qualicum Beach on May 31, 2026, following the appointment of new members to the volunteer Family Day Committee.

The Family Day Celebration has been a beloved community event since 1947, sponsored by the Town of Qualicum Beach and organized by a group of dedicated volunteers. Held on the last Sunday of each May, Family Day brings residents and visitors together for a day of activities, entertainment, and community spirit. The celebration includes a community breakfast, a street parade, and an afternoon of activities, entertainment, and food. The day then ends with a free swim at the Ravensong Aquatic Centre.

The Town would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the previous Family Day Committee members for their time and dedication they contributed. While several members were unable to continue due to unforeseen circumstances, new volunteers stepping forward brings the Committee back to full strength and ready to make this year’s celebration another memorable day for the community.

Get Your Water Meter Ready for Readings

Crews will begin water meter readings on April 18, and need your help!

Please ensure your landscaping (and clippings) is cleared around your meter boxes so our staff can easily access and read the meters.

Not sure where your meter is? All water meter boxes are labelled "water meter" and may be made of concrete with a steel lid, or black and plastic.

It's crucial to keep them visible not only for readings but also for emergency shut-offs. The easier we can find the box, the quicker we can shut off the water when needed!

Ways to Achieve Attainable Housing

The Ways to Achieve Attainable Market Housing (WAAMH) project was launched to help address growing housing challenges, especially for young adults and families, local workers, seniors over 75, and people living with disabilities.

WAAMH will develop actionable recommendations for housing initiatives, to consider both the community’s housing needs and the practical realities of market housing development in Qualicum Beach.

Housing ideas will be invited from the public, staff, advisory Committees and Council, and each proposal will be scored using established criteria. Feasibility profiles will then be developed for the highest-scoring solutions to go on and form the final WAAMH Plan which will help future decision making.

In their proposal, Extreme Eatz included a strong team experienced in golf course operations, highlighted by the involvement of Head Golf Professional Neil Bidewell and Greens Superintendent Gavin Wilkinson.
