As we welcome the 2025 holiday season, we’re reminded of the everyday moments that make Qualicum Beach such a remarkable place. Neighbours who look out for one another, a community that shows up, and the shared pride we feel in our town.

This time of year invites us to slow down, reconnect, and extend kindness in ways both big and small. Whether you’re supporting local shops, offering a hand to someone who needs it, or simply sharing a moment of warmth with a friend or neighbour, these gestures enrich our whole community.

The holidays can also be a challenging time for some. Reaching out, checking in, and showing compassion can make a meaningful difference for those who may be feeling alone or overwhelmed.

As we look toward 2026, Council is hopeful and inspired by the strength and generosity of our residents. Together, we can continue building a community where everyone feels welcome, supported, and included.

Longtime community volunteer Pat Jacobson has been awarded Council’s 2025 ‘Above & Beyond Award’ for her exceptional dedication to environmental stewardship, community service, and civic engagement.

Pat epitomises the spirit of the Above & Beyond Award, contributing her time, expertise, and leadership across numerous local organizations. At the Volunteer Reception it was said that “Pat’s volunteer contributions are almost too numerous to list, and in fact, we suspect even she has lost count.” 

Pat serves as Director of the Qualicum Beach Streamkeepers and was instrumental in the habitat restoration and redesign of the Seaside Nature Park. She is the Director of the Qualicum Beach Friends of the Forests, and has contributed to the Heritage Forest Commission, the Brown Property Preservation Society, Pollinator Pathway projects, the Friends of French Creek Conservation Society, and the Arrowsmith Naturalists. 

Presenting the award as acting Mayor, Councillor Scott Harrison said, “Beyond all these titles and committees, what stands out most is the example Pat sets. She leads not with fanfare, but with quiet determination. She doesn’t look for recognition but simply sees what needs to be done and steps forward. Pat reminds us of what citizen leadership truly looks like: thoughtful, consistent, community-minded, and deeply rooted in a love for Qualicum Beach.”

Pat was presented the Award at the Town’s Volunteer Appreciation Reception, which welcomed representatives from over 120 local groups in Qualicum Beach. The Reception closed with a sincere thank you from Council to all the volunteer representatives, saying, “Your unwavering dedication and selfless contributions have been the driving force behind our community’s positive impact. Your generosity of time and spirit shines brightly, and we are profoundly grateful for the difference you make every day.”

Public participation is an essential part accountable municipal decision-making. We encourage all residents to stay informed by attending Council meetings, where key community priorities, projects, and policies are discussed.

All meetings are held in the Council Chamber at Town Hall, located at 660 Primrose Street, commencing at 10:00 am (unless otherwise indicated). Special meetings may also be scheduled as required. All meetings are recorded and posted online for those who cannot attend in person.

Dog tags for 2026 are now available from Town Hall. 

Until January 31, 2026, a discounted rate of $20 applies for spayed/neutered dogs and $40 for un-spayed or un-neutered dogs (a partial rebate is available after spaying or neutering.) 



It is a requirement of Bylaw No. 649 that owners license every dog over the age of eight weeks in the Town of Qualicum Beach. Visit Dog Licences for more details.
