As 2024 dawns, it is a great time to take a moment to reflect on some highlights of 2023 that occurred in our community. What a great year it was!
Community Events were next level this year, with Beach Day and Family Day seeing record turnouts. Likewise, the Show ‘n Shine, Canada Day Parade, and many other events thrived with community spirit. The Town was also able to recognize its many volunteers at the annual Volunteer Appreciation event in December.
Held on the last Sunday of May, Family Day included a pancake breakfast at the Civic Centre, a street parade down Second Avenue, and an afternoon of activities, entertainment, and food at the Community Playing Field. The day then wrapped up with a free swim at Ravensong.
Beach Day celebrated its 10th year celebrating our beautiful beach as a community, with tents hosting activities, a main stage for live music, and a variety of games and entertainment. | The Town's Volunteer Appreciation Reception was an opportunity to thank the many volunteers who contribute to the community’s well-being. The winner of the Above and Beyond Volunteer Award was Adele Kristalovich, chosen for her outstanding fundraising achievements and extensive community involvement.
It was a year of growth for the Town, with some key projects including the completion of Into The Woods Early Learning Studio, East Village Phase 2, Waterfront Expansion, and the beginning of the Beach Creek Separated Walkway and Viewing Platform.
