Strategic & Financial Plan - Public Input 

Public consultation is an integral part of the Town of Qualicum Beach Strategic and Financial Planning process, and includes multiple opportunities for public participation.

The 2025 discussions are held in the Council Chamber of Town Hall at 660 Primrose Street and are open to public input. Join the remaining meetings listed below:

  • Nov 13 - Committee of the Whole - Budget Planning, 10 am
  • Nov 20 - Committee of the Whole - Budget Planning, 4 pm

Ways to Engage in the Financial Planning Process

  • Ask questions and provide input at the Committee of the Whole meetings.

Nominate an Outstanding Volunteer

Qualicum Beach is often celebrated for its tremendous volunteer spirit and commitment.


To help celebrate our volunteers, you are invited to nominate a deserving individual for the 2024 Above & Beyond Award.


This recipient will have been actively engaged for at least one year in volunteer activities that have benefited the community. They will also have demonstrated good character, leadership, selflessness and integrity. 


Applications and policy copies are available on the Town’s website or may be picked up at the Town Office at 201-660 Primrose Street from 9 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday.

Remembrance Day

The Legion and Rotary Club, in collaboration with the Town, is hosting the following events in honour of our veterans:

  • Field of Crosses erected from November 4 to 12 on the grassy area opposite the Community Hall on Railway Street. Opening ceremonies at 11 am on November 4.
  • Candlelight Ceremony at the Legion, November 10 at 4:00 pm.
  • Sunset Ceremony at the Field of Crosses, November 10 at 5:30 pm.
  • Remembrance Day Service at the Civic Centre, November 11, doors open at 10:00 am.


We remember the brave men and women who have served, and continue to serve our country, during times of war, conflict and peace. Lest we forget!

Larger Organics Carts Available

Residents can now choose a larger 240-litre organics cart!


To order a larger organics cart go to getinvolved.rdn.ca/expanded-organics between October 28 and November 30. Those who don’t have online access can call 250-390-5680 between 8:30 am to 4 pm on weekdays from October 28 to November 8, and from November 18 to 29, 2024.


To order, you will need to provide your utility account number, and serial numbers for all carts (recycle, garbage and food waste, which are found on your cart).


This larger cart is available at any time to residents; however, incentives are available to those who order their new carts now. For all orders received by November 30, 2024, the fee to exchange or add a larger organics cart will be discounted to $50, a savings of $25. Curbside customers who place their organics cart order by November 8, 2024, will be eligible to win one of five prizes of curbside collection fees waived for two years, a value of over $400.


Delivery of the larger organics carts is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2025.

Chipping Underway

Each year, the Town offers a seasonal chipping program in both Spring and Fall, providing residents with the convenience of placing branches curbside for easy collection.


Chipping has commenced, with the following timelines:

  • Residences EAST of Memorial Ave - collection to complete Nov 4
  • Residences WEST of Memorial Ave - collection starts Nov 4 at 8 am


Follow the guidelines for smooth collection:

  • ONE pile per property
  • Small trees, branches, woody shrub materials
  • Maximum pile of 8ft x 8ft x 5ft high
  • Wood under 4 inches in diameter
  • Neatly stacked at the roadside with butt ends facing the same direction

NO

  • Grass clippings, leaves, soft plant materials (eg. flowers)
  • Piles in excess of 8ft x 8ft x 5ft high
  • Piles with gravel, dirt, or roots covered with dirt
  • Wood in excess of 4 inches in diameter

Utility Notices - Due November 8

Utility notices were mailed to property owners the week of October 7, 2024. If you have not received your notice, please contact the Town at 250.752.6921.


Utility bills may include charges for water, sewer and solid waste services. Billings are issued twice per year for the following periods:

  • Winter - Oct 1 to April 30
  • Summer - May 1 to Sept 30
