Small Business Owner's Guide to Federal CARES Act Funds
Access funds for your small business
The programs and initiatives in the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act are intended to provide immediate financial assistance to small to medium-sized businesses. For guidance on SBA programs, see this helpful Guide . Please contact Alyssa Sandoval, Economic Development Director, at [email protected] for one-on-one assistance. Two key provisions for small businesses are highlighted below:
  • Need a quick infusion of cash? COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) provides an emergency grant of up to $10,000: Small businesses may apply directly to the federal SBA to receive an economic injury disaster grant of up to $10,000 that does not need to be paid back. See this link for criteria and take 15 minutes to fill out an application: https://covid19relief.sba.gov/#/. 
  • Need help covering the cost of retaining employees? The SBA Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) may be for you. Eligible recipients may qualify for a loan up to $10 million determined by 8 weeks of prior average payroll plus an additional 25% of that amount. Find a nearby participating lender by using SBA's online tool.
  • Note: you may apply for assistance through both EIDL and PPP but should not ask for coverage of the same expense.

Bedford Take Out
Launched several weeks ago, the Bedford Take Out website at www.bedfordtakeout.com is continually updated with a list of current restaurants that are open, and offering takeout and delivery to support our local restaurants. The website is popular with residents who would like to check out current options for take-out in a single easy-to-use website. The Bedford Chamber of Commerce also is spearheading an initiative to support Bedford Restaurants with promotions.
