National Night Out August 1st
Don't miss National Night Out hosted by the Police Departments of Boonton, Mountain Lakes, and Boonton Township.

REMINDER: 2023 Quarter 3 Tax Payments are Due August 1st
Tax payments can be made in the following ways:
  • Pay by check, cash, or money order during business hours (8:30-4:00 pm M-F) in person at Town Hall.
  • Pay by check or money order at any time to our drop box outside of Town Hall.
  • Pay by electronic check via the Online Payment portal on the town website here. The platform charges $1.95.
  • Pay by credit card via the Online Payment portal on the town website here. The platform charges a percentage of the transaction.
  • Auto-debit is also available. Please apply with the Tax Collector at tax@boonton.org or 973-402-9410 x 617.
 
Please make tax payments by Aug 1st to avoid late fees.
NJ Natural Gas to Install Gas Mains
Gas Main Installation on:
  • Marc Blvd
  • Wiggins Court
  • Beam Drive
  • South Terrace

Service connections are to be installed approximately one month later with road paving after a 6-month settlement.

Schedule: Start date of Wednesday, August 2, 2023; 6 days of main installation anticipated.

Main Street Tap Grant Project Plans are Available to Review, Accepting Public Comments Until August 10th
The plans for the TAP Grant are online for your review and input, please submit comments by August 10th. All comments will be collected and responded to. A summary of each comment and response will be posted on the Town's website.

Please Help Keep Boonton Clean

Ordinance 26-2005 states using a public container for anything other than pedestrian-generated trash, including but not limited to household or commercially generated trash, is prohibited. Please do not place household garbage in public garbage containers.
New Laws for Lead-based Paint
Landlords Guide to NJ’s Lead Safe Certification
 New Jersey’s newest lead-based paint law, “New Jersey’s Lead-Safe Certification,” goes into effect July 22, 2022, and directly targets ALL pre-1978 rental properties. In addition to new lead paint inspection intervals.
What Landlords Need to Know
Effective July 22, 2022, New Jersey requires lead paint inspections (visual only for Boonton) for all targeted rental units, or by July 24, 2024, if there is no tenant turnover. Find details on the Town website here.
Facade Improvement Grants still available for 2023
Are you a property or business owner on Main Street looking to improve your facade? 2023 Facade Grant applications are still being accepted, details can be found here.

Morris County Historic Preservation Trust Fund Awards over $100,000 in Grant Funding to the Town of Boonton
The award is for two non-construction grants:
  • $60,000.00 to nominate the Boonton Main Street Historic District to the State and National Register of Historic Places.
  • $44,400.00 to create the Historic Preservation Plan for the Darress Theatre.
