Town of Cornelius Continues to Take Precautions
Amid Growing COVID-19 Concerns
As concern about the global pandemic continues to grow, the Town of Cornelius has taken additional steps to keep the community safe. Please note the following changes:

Effective Friday, March 20, all Town facilities will be closed to the public to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 in our community. This includes the following buildings:

  • Town Hall
  • Police Station
  • Fire Stations
  • Animal Shelter
  • Public Works

While our buildings will be closed to the public, all departments will continue to provide as many of our normal services as possible.

At this time, all Town of Cornelius parks and greenways remain open . We encourage you to enjoy them while practicing a safe 6ft distance from others, as recommended by the CDC.

Our Police and Fire departments remain ready to serve our community and have implemented the recommended procedures and protocols to handle the COVID-19 crisis.

The lobby of the police station remains open. However, if you have an emergency, please continue to call 911.

The following Town-sponsored programs, activities, and events have been canceled until further notice , including:

  • All non-essential citizen board and committee meetings, like the upcoming Architectural Review Board and PARC Commission meetings.

Town officials also plan to move forward with the FY21 Budget Workshop , with a few modifications. The meeting will now be held at Town Hall on Wednesday, March 25 only, and will also be physically closed to the public . The public will be invited to view the meeting virtually.

Questions and comments for the Board to consider during these meetings may be submitted in advance via email to TownofCornelius@Cornelius.org and will be read into the records during each meeting.

Town officials will continue to closely monitor this rapidly changing situation, and will continue to align with the direction provided by government and public health authorities.

We will also continue to evaluate meetings and events scheduled for the next several weeks and adjust accordingly.
