Tender issued for the construction of wastewater treatment plant

copy of wastewater image.jpg

The wastewater treatment plant is moving on to the next phase - construction! The tender for the construction of the wastewater treatment plant was issued on March 24, and the Town is expecting to break ground soon. Read news release here.

Some key facts:

  • There are no cost implications for residents for this tender as the construction of the plant, is being paid for by the development community.
  • All financial agreement with the development community are available here.
  • The construction of the wastewater plant and the main trunk lines is expected to take between 2 to 2 ½ years (i.e. 2025)
  • All new development will be connected first to the system.
  • Existing property owners within the urban boundary will not be connecting immediately. It will be a number of years before everyone can hook up to the system.
  • The timelines for connecting existing properties within the urban area will be in phases and dependent on the Town receiving funding from the higher levels of government. (Maps of service area are available here under the question "Where will the wastewater plant be built?")
  • Information on potential costs to existing individual property owners within the urban boundary can be found on here.

The Town continues to work hard advocating to higher levels of government for funding and remains optimistic on getting financial help to alleviate the costs to our residents.
