Unified Community Game
On Monday, Oct. 18th, Officers from the FPD participated in the annual “Unified for our Community Game” where the FPD went head to head with the Franklin Unified Basketball Team. This year’s event raised over $1800 for the Franklin Food Pantry. Like years past, the FPD got handed an embarrassing loss. Dribbling drills, three-pointers, and free throw shooting drills are going to be mandatory shift training until next year’s game.
Gift Card Scams
Like other area departments, the FPD is continuing to see a rise in gift card-related scams. Scammers request gift cards in exchange for services or promised goods. One report involved an individual receiving a phone from a spoofed FPD phone number where an officer allegedly requested gift card information in exchange for police services. Just a reminder, no law enforcement agency (local, state, or federal) would ever ask for gift card information or other financial information. We understand these calls can appear very real and troubling but simply hang up the phone and report them to the FPD at 508-528-1212. Scammers are typically located elsewhere in the country and other parts of the world and pose no real threat to your safety. Please share this information with any elderly family or friends and other vulnerable populations.
