The Town of Georgina entered into the Modified Step 2 of the Roadmap to Reopen effective Jan. 5 at 12:01 a.m. It followed an announcement by the government of Ontario regarding a reintroduction of public health and workplace safety measures in response to the rapidly spreading COVID-19 variant, Omicron. All Town indoor sport and recreation facilities will be closed to the public, and all indoor in-person programming cancelled. Those impacted by cancelled programs and third-party rentals will be contacted directly. The Town will refund all user fees charged. Visit georgina.ca/recreation for more.
Clinic
COVID-19 vaccinations
A vaccine clinic remains in place at the Georgina Ice Palace. Beginning Sunday, Jan. 9, the clinic will be open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you need assistance, call 1-877-464-9675. Waste calendar and Christmas tree pickup 
Did you receive your copy of the 2022 Waste and Recycling calendar? You can view and download a copy online at georgina.ca/WasteandRecycling. Christmas tree pickup will be held the week of Jan. 10, 2022. Residents are asked to remove all decorations, nails, tree stands and plastic tree bags. The maximum size is six feet or 1.8 metres. If your tree is larger, cut it into pieces.
New Deputy CAO
The Town of Georgina is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Wheater as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)/Treasurer. Mr. Wheater’s portfolio will include tax and revenue, financial planning, financial operations and information technology. He has been with the Town since 2015.
Infrastructure funding 
The Town of Georgina received $2.77 million from the Ontario government through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) for 2022. The Town approved its 2022 budget on Dec. 1, 2021. It allocated approximately $1.4 million in Ontario Community Infrastructure Funds to the roads program. This new investment will be considered as part of the Town's Long-range Financial Plan which is being updated in 2022. The results will be presented to Council after the financial plan is completed.
Winter operations
Winter weather has arrived. The Town is committed to providing a consistent level of snow removal service throughout the winter season. Using a combination of Town staff and contractors, plowing, sanding and salting is performed each winter with consideration to safety, environmental and budgetary concerns.
Winter parking restrictions
Winter weather has arrived. That’s a reminder of our shared role in keeping roads and walkways clear. Winter parking restrictions are now in effect until April 15, meaning no parking on streets between the hours of 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.
Stormwater ponds
With colder temperatures on the way, a reminder that stormwater ponds will freeze and they are not to be used as skating rinks. They are not intended or designed for recreational use as water levels can change rapidly and create unsafe conditions. This is extremely dangerous and poses many safety risks for residents.

The Town of Georgina is holding virtual Council meetings. These meetings will be broadcast as usual through the Town’s live streaming tool.

Public participation by phone is available. A pre-registration form is required to be submitted to the Clerks Division by noon the day before the meeting. The form can be found at georgina.ca/CouncilMeetings.
Recreation
ROC
Jack is back and he is welcoming everyone to the ROC for another fun season. Before you come, Jack has some tips and reminders you need to be aware of. Capacity is reduced and tickets must be purchased online in advance. Masks must be worn at all times. The chalet will be open for washroom use. There will be no dine-in or warming area within the chalet. Guests are asked to use their car as their chalet/home base. Pefferlaw Ice Pad
The Pefferlaw Ice Pad (PIP) is open for the season. Registration is not required and there is no admission charge. COVID-19 procedures and protocols are in place. Masks must be worn when physical distancing can not be maintained such as lacing up in the skate area.
Waste and Recycling
Waste and Recycling
The Town has waived the requirement for bag tags until further notice. The bag limit of five bags/items remains in place. Latex gloves and masks go in the garbage lined with a plastic bag.
