Georgina in Red-Control
Georgina is currently in the red-control classification level within the province’s tiered COVID-19 response framework. With the announcement of a vaccination clinic in Georgina, the Town’s priority moving forward will be supporting the clinic. As recreation staff work toward this new priority, the tube and terrain hill at the Recreational Outdoor Campus (ROC) will remain closed for the rest of the winter season. The balance of the ROC property, including the toboggan hill, will remain open for permitted use.
Festivals and Events Ontario awards
The Town of Georgina has won two Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO) Awards. The first was for the Drive-thru Parade of Lights. The 2021 Achievement Award is new and is called the Adapt Pivot Evolve award. The Town partnered with the Georgina Kinsmen to bring an illuminated drive-thru Santa Claus parade to the Recreational Outdoor Campus (ROC) in December 2020.
The Town won a second FEO Achievement Award for its Field to Table Farm Tour. The Town partnered with local agri-businesses to pivot the in-person Field to Table Farm Tour to a virtual live experience.
Community Initiatives Fund grant

Stormwater Ponds
Stormwater ponds are not to be used for skating. They are not intended or designed for that kind of activity as rapid temperature changes, snowfall and rain make them unsafe for any recreational activities. This is extremely dangerous and poses many safety risks for residents.
