Kent Town Newsletter
Let's dig right in...
I hope you all got to celebrate Earth Day today.
On second thought, I hope you celbrate Earth Day every day.
The Town is working with the Board of Finance to adopt the budget within the scope of Governor Lamont's Executive Orders put in place in light of the COVID19 pandemic.

Executive Order 7I suspends the in-person budget adoption requirements for municipalities. It also requires the municipality take all reasonable steps to publicize the draft budget and to provide for the public to make timely comments.

To this end, we are using SurveyMonkey to enable you to submit comments. You will be able you to ask up to five (5) questions of the Board of Education, Board of Finance, and Board of Selectmen about the budget. There's even a comment box at the end if you would just like to offer a comment.

If you would like to view the proposed budget, Please visit the budget page on our website.

The comment period is open till May 6th at 11:59pm. Once we receive all the submissions, they will be sent to each board for their response, which will then be read in for discussion at the Board of Finance's May 19th meeting, where the public will be also allowed to ask questions. The Board of Finance will then adjourn to a special meeting to approve the budget and set the mill rate.
Our new CERT members are already busy - they have sent over 100 hand-written cards to some of out community members, and they're busy organizing a face-covering making effort for the citizens of Kent.
Do you know how to run a sewing machine? Kent CERT is looking for sewers to make face coverings! They'll provide the materials and pattern, you provide the sewing! Click the button below to contact Cert Team Leader with interest.

HRRA Recycling Poster Contest winners
I was honored this evening to be invited to the awards ceremony for the 2020 Recycling Poster contest. Jennifer Heaton of HRRA was a great Zoom emcee, and the kids truly enjoyed the unique experience.

We had two winners from Kent; First Grader Leah Finberg who attends Kent Center School, and 11th Grader Olivia Pignitaro who attends The Marvelwood School. Please congratulate them for their wonderful pieces.
