Town Supervisor
Janet Aaron
This fall has been one of the most beautiful that I can remember. On every road there are spectacular trees with multiple colors. The reds are so vibrant this year. What a beautiful time of year.
Since August, Town Board has been busy meeting 8 times with departments working on next year’s budget. It’s a very intense look, line by line of the needs and expectations in each department and working on the balance between what is being requested and the impact to our taxpayers. The public hearing for the 2023 budget is at 7 p.m. on November 7th.

Feeney a Boxer from Skaneateles
Beth Batlle
Town Historian
Calling upon his Irish love of a good fight, Jack Feeney became the famous professional boxer from Skaneateles. He was born to James E. Feeney and Mary Stinson Feeney on April 14, 1886 on the hillside farm on Old Seneca Turnpike, where he lived throughout his entire life. He was one of ten children whose grandparents had immigrated from Ireland in the 1840's.
As a kid, he and his brothers, as well as other boys from the neighborhood, worked out in the yards and barns of Skaneateles. He then trained under boxer Billy Ryan, one of the best featherweight and lightweight boxers from Syracuse. Jack was 22 when he fought his first professional fight in Utica in 1908 against "Kid" Mathews.

Parks Department submitted by Sue Murphy
What a summer! Austin Park, The Charlie Major Nature Trail and The Conservation Area were very busy. The parks employees worked so hard to make sure the community could use the swimming area, farmers market, ballfields, and parking lot in Mandana for their boat trailers.
Waterfront – Our heartfelt thanks go out to our lifeguards – Keady Azzam, Jacob French, Braden Gryzlo, Nolan Gryzlo, Amelia Musso, Peter McCaffrey, Benjamin Patterson, Matt Persampier, Ryan Persampier, Alice Spaulding, Thomas Parisi and Allison Whipple. Without them we couldn’t have opened. Many of them, this was their first job, and we were thrilled that they rose up to the challenge, especially with the lack of lifeguards nationwide. A special thank you goes out to Keri Steves Fey for her guidance with the new lifeguards. She recently joined the budget office at the Town, but since she was a head lifeguard for several years, she was always up to helping out and lending words of wisdom to our new guards. THANK YOU!

SAVES
Jerry Schinaman
SAVES crews continue to experience significant wait times in Emergency Rooms (ER’S). In addition, SAVES crews continue to respond to some calls in neighboring ambulance districts. We have been responding to an average of 100 calls per month. Although ER’S are busy, don’t hesitate to call an ambulance if you need assistance.
