BENCHES, BIKE RACKS & RECYCLING

The Town of Wainwright recently installed 5 benches, 5 bike racks and 5 recycling receptacles in the downtown area. This initiative was funded in part from the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF). The Wallace Park project and the newly paved trails on 27th Street and near the Best Western are also being funded by the Town and CCRF.

This project will help to connect community spaces and business districts, encourage physical fitness, reduce our environmental footprint, increase a sense of connectedness and foster an eco-friendly mindset.

WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING AT WALLACE PARK?

In consultation with our industry engineers, we have made a plan to improve many aspects of Wallace Park. Thanks to funding, in part from the Government of Canada, we are able to start in 2022.

Phase 1 will commence in Fall 2022/Winter 2023 which will include:

  • emptying out Wallace Park
  • constructing and installing a pond control structure that will allow for water level control
  • start the re-grading and topsoil placement process in the park to resolve many of the drainage issues in Wallace Park
  • start the process of improving the internal and side slopes of the pond and placement of live soils

Phase 2 when funding is secure will include:

  • complete the re-grading and topsoil placement process in the park including seeding
  • complete the internal and side sloping of the pond and remove the pond silt and organics
  • connecting the stormwater line from the newly installed control structure to and down 10th Avenue

Phase 3 when funding is secure, will include:

  • washed rock French drain system to help alleviate water migrating from Wallace Park

CURB RAMPS

It's time to remove your curb ramps before the snow flies! This allows Town crews to have easier access for snow removal.
