Weaverville's Independence Day Celebration

~Join the Town for the annual Fourth of July event on Friday, July 4th, 2025~

Streets intersecting Main Street will be closed to allow for plenty of room for people to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and dance the night away! The music performance will be provided by Breakfast for Dinner: https://www.breakfastfordinnermusic.com/

The entertainment will begin at 7:00pm, followed by fireworks. Come early, find your spot, and partake of food and beverages from Main Street establishments and other local vendors!

Police Department Reminders for July 4th Event

The Town of Weaverville’s Independence Day ... let's go over some tips to ensure The Town of Weaverville's Independence Day Celebration is as safe as it is sensational.

Rules:

No dogs or pets are allowed. The loud noises and crowds can be distressing for animals.

Alcohol is not permitted. Let's keep the event family-friendly and safe for all ages.

Leave the sparklers at home. While fun, they pose a fire and injury risk, especially in crowded areas.

Parking is prohibited in certain areas. Be mindful about where you choose to park. Parking is not permitted within a traffic lane or upon the traveled portion of a roadway, on the sidewalk, blocking driveways, etc. Research the ordinances beforehand at Municode.com under section 28-95.

✅ Bring your lawn chairs, water, and good vibes—and let’s make it a night to remember!

Recycling is Bi-Weekly Effective July 1st!

RECYCLING CHANGES- Effective July 1: The Town of Weaverville is moving to a bi-weekly recycle collection schedule.

Recycle Collection program is provided by a contract with Curbie or Curbside Management. In order to be collected, the trash and recycling must be curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day. Recyclables are picked up every other week for residential and commercial customers within the Town limits.

Again, items should be placed at the curb for pick up by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled pick-up day. Your street location determines when your recyclables will be collected. Please refer to the Refuse/Recycling Collection Calendar for determine your scheduled recycling collection week, either ‘A’ week or ‘B’ week: CURBIE Weaverville Biweekly Calendar July 2025:

All streets within town limits and who currently are served by Curbie will be divided into an 'A' or 'B' week. This will begin on July 1, 2025, then bi-weekly thereafter. For the recycling lists of Weaverville STREETS for new recycle schedule:

Dry Ridge Museum 4th of July Historic Downtown Tour

On July 4th the Dry Ridge Museum will sponsor two guided walking tours of Historic Main Street.

The tours will leave from the Town Clock at 3:00 & 4:30 p.m. They will feature the history of the buildings and churches in downtown Weaverville. Watch out for Montraville Weaver, who donated the land for the town! Walking tours will take about

45-minutes. Participants should be able to walk 1/2 mile, but all are welcome to do part of the walk as to your ability.

Public Invited to Final Round of Input for Regional Transportation Plan

Asheville, NC – The French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization (FBRMPO) is inviting the public to provide input on the draft of its metropolitan transportation plan, Elevate 2050, this July.

Elevate 2050 is a federally required plan that outlines transportation priorities for the region over the next 25 years. The plan will help guide decisions about highways, public transit, bike/pedestrian infrastructure, and more.

The July meetings will focus on two key components:

· The Draft Elevate 2050 Plan, developed from three previous rounds of public engagement in 2024 and early 2025.

· The Fiscally Constrained Project List, which includes transportation projects for which funding may become available over the next 25 years.

The three public meetings for the fourth phase of the plan include:

- Monday, July 7^th from 4-8PM at the Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Center (285 Livingston St., Asheville, NC 28801)

- Tuesday, July 8^th from 4-8PM at the Mills River Town Hall (124 Town Center Drive, Mills River, NC 28759)

- Wednesday, July 9^th from 4-8PM at Waynesville Town Hall (16 S Main St, Waynesville, NC 28786)
