Kicking off the new year, the Township Committee convened on Tuesday, January 7th for its annual organization meeting, at which, newly-elected Committee members are sworn in and the body elects the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the year. This year, Committeeman Peter Mancuso was sworn in for his 7th three-year term on the Committee. The Township Committee then voted unanimously for Committeewoman Cathy Wilson to serve as Mayor and Committeeman Jeff Grayzel to serve as Deputy Mayor. On Wednesday, January 15th , the newly-reorganized Committee met for its January business meeting. At the start of the meeting, the Township Committee recognized John M. Mills, III for his 29 years of hard work and dedication to the Township of Morris while serving as Township Attorney. Following the recognition, the Township received a presentation of a framed map depicting aerial photographs of Morris Township dated from 1930 from the Morristown/Morris Township Library Director Leinaweaver. The Committee also heard from the Executive Director of the Morris County Housing Authority on their application for grant funding for security systems at Morris Mews Senior Citizen Complex.
One ordinance was introduced at the January meeting, which would revise swim pool membership and program fees for the Township pools. This ordinance will have a public hearing and public comment period at the Committee’s February 19th meeting. Numerous resolutions were passed at the meeting, including resolutions fulfilling the annual appointment process for professionals, approving the purchase of
body worn cameras
