UPCOMING ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS
ACROSS THE TOWNSHIP
| |
Maple Shade Township will be moving forward with several important roadway projects in the coming weeks to improve safety, accessibility, and overall infrastructure.
E. Front Street – Forklanding Road to Stiles Avenue:
Contractor Paving Plus is scheduled to begin work on or about August 7th, starting with the removal of proposed trees and stump grinding. The next phase, concrete replacement, is anticipated to begin the week of August 18th, weather permitting.
Residents will receive advance notification at least 48 hours prior to the start of work. The final resurfacing of this project is tentatively scheduled for completion before Labor Day. While the contractor will make every effort to meet this timeline, delays due to weather or unforeseen conditions may impact the schedule.
Forklanding Road and Yocum Sidewalk Improvement Project:
Final work on this project is expected to begin the week of August 11th and will take approximately three days to complete. Crews are currently coordinating the availability of equipment, including a crane, to finish the job by August 13th.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve roadways and walkways throughout our community. Please be mindful of posted notices, parking restrictions, and traffic control measures in active work zones.

Proper Syringe Disposal – Safety First! 🛑🧴♻️
Improper disposal of syringes poses a serious risk to public safety and sanitation workers. Please remember: never place used syringes in your recycling bin. Instead, use a designated sharps container or a sturdy, puncture-resistant plastic bottle (like a laundry detergent bottle), properly labeled and sealed.
You can safely drop off sealed containers at Virtua Marlton, 90 Brick Rd, Marlton, NJ, or Virtua Memorial, 175 Madison Ave, Mt. Holly, NJ, during business hours. This program is free and requires no registration.
Let’s work together to keep our community safe!

NOTICE
Our preventative valve maintenance program is ongoing. Our crews will be exercising the water main valves in the roadways along with completing regulatory inspections. Please use caution around the crew’s work area.
With summertime temperatures soaring, please remember that when topping off pools, watering gardens, pressure washing around the house, using waterslides, and washing your cars will result in a higher than normal quarterly bill.
| | |
WATER UPDATE
Water system improvements on Rose Avenue are complete. After a brief settlement period, the contractor will return to perform final asphalt restoration to the affected roadway.
| |
|
SEWER UPDATE
Sewer main improvements on certain sections of Main Street have been awarded and are still scheduled to begin in August.

FLOOD WATCH INFORMATION
Maple Shade Police would like to remind everyone about Flood Safety. In case of a flood, please stay informed and know the do’s and don’ts when water levels rise. It only takes 6-inches of moving water to knock a person off their feet and 12-inches to move a vehicle.

HEAT SAFETY INFORMATION
With summer in full swing, we want to remind everyone to be safe during these hot days. Heat injuries can be deadly if they are not prevented or treated immediately. Please ensure you are protecting yourself from the elements and look after children and the elderly as they are more susceptible to heat injuries.
| |
SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING
Report any suspicious activity. LOCK your home and car doors. Don’t leave any valuables in your vehicle and ensure your night lights are on.
| |
PROPERTY ADDRESS DISPLAYED
In an emergency, seconds matter. We encourage all residents to check their home and ensure their address is clearly visible especially at night. When first responders respond to a call for service, they have limited information and time to determine where they are needed. Having your home address properly displayed helps emergency services get to you.
A home address should be clearly visible from the
street, unobstructed, and well-lit during the night.

| | HEAT WAVE ANALYSIS REPORT | | |
DEP’s Division of Science and Research published a report that analyzed 30 years of heat wave data collected from 12 stations throughout the state. Read the full report HERE.
Here are the key findings:
- New Jerseyans are experiencing more heat waves in recent years.
- There is less daily cooling during these weather events
A heat wave was defined as three or more consecutive days of high temperatures exceeding 90°F.
Specifically, the report shows that the average number of heat waves recorded in a year increased from two heat waves in 1994 to four heat waves by 2023. In addition, the difference between daily low and high temperatures during heat waves decreased over the study, suggesting that conditions stayed warmer with reduced cooling overnight. The length of the heat waves in number of days remained consistent over the study, averaging more than four days long.
