🚧Upcoming Improvements🚧

Forklanding Road & Yocum School Sidewalk & Curb Project

The Township is pleased to announce that sidewalk and curb improvements along Forklanding Road, between Orchard and High Street including the area in front of Yocum School, are scheduled to begin on or about July 15th. The work is being completed by the Township’s contracted vendor, S. Batata Construction, and is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete.

The project will enhance pedestrian safety and improve overall walkability for students, families, and residents in the area. Temporary driveway access restrictions and parking limitations on Forklanding Road may occur during construction, and residents will be notified in advance.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve our infrastructure and keep Maple Shade a safe, walkable community for all!

NOTICE FROM FIRE MARSHAL:

OUTDOOR OPEN BURNING PERMITS

A Message from your Fire Marshal:

We hope everyone is enjoying the summer safely outdoors in the very, warm sun with family and friends!

Recently, we have had several fire incidents caused by outdoor open burning. We want to take this opportunity to remind everyone that open burning is prohibited in the State of New Jersey without a proper permit. Last year, the Township Council approved a permit process for Maple Shade. Below are some brief details; however, the full ordinance can be viewed HERE.

The permit process is free to Township Residents and is in place to help educate as well as prevent fire losses. We encourage everyone who wants to continue open burning to apply and schedule an appointment for an inspection.

The “Permit Application - Outdoor Fireplace (Homeowner)” application can be accessed HERE or on the Township's website under the Fire Official’s webpage. We hope to help educate everyone on the safest locations and methods to enjoy open burning while enjoying the outdoors.

As always, if there are any questions, we can be reached by email at dkerr@mapleshade.com or by phone at 856.779.9610 x179

Have a great summer!

Daniel L. Kerr Jr.

Fire Marshal

WATER & SEWER

NOTICE

Our preventative valve preventative maintenance program is ongoing. Our crews will be exercising the water main valves in the roadways along with completing regulatory inspections. Please use caution around the crew’s work area.

As warmer temperatures are upon us remember to inspect all of your outdoor hose bibs, hoses, sprayers, sprinklers, and irrigation equipment for leaks. Keep in mind that when topping off pools, pressure washing around the house, using waterslides, and even washing your cars more often, can result in a slightly higher than normal water usage for those months.

WATER UPDATE

Water system improvements on Rose Avenue have begun. The new water main is installed and water services are scheduled to begin the week of June 30th. Residents will be notified in advance of any water interruption by the installation contractor. Please use caution around these areas during those times.

SEWER UPDATE

Sewer main improvements on certain sections of Main Street have been awarded and are scheduled to begin in August.

SERVICE LINE INVENTORY UPDATE

Per NJDEP regulations, all water systems must identify the water service lines that supply water to residential and commercial buildings. In 2022, the Township sent out two rounds of letters asking those with unknown lines to contact the utility to make an appointment. At that time the unknown lines total was over 500, our inventory currently stands at 157.

We need your help to complete the inventory. If you received a letter in November, please contact the utility to set up an appointment. The appointment takes just a few minutes, otherwise an excavation may be required to determine the service line material. The current inventory can be viewed HERE.
