ACE’S PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NEARING COMPLETION

The Ace's Park improvement project is nearing completion, bringing exciting upgrades for the community to enjoy. The basketball court has been reconstructed and freshly sealed and painted; a new fence has been installed for safety, and updated lighting has been energized to enhance visibility and park security. New park benches and trash receptacles have also been added to improve comfort and encourage cleanliness.

As we wrap up these improvements, we kindly remind all residents and park goers to do their part in keeping ACE's Park clean and enjoyable for everyone.

COLLINS LANE PARK SEES UPTICK IN GRAFFITI & DAMAGE

TO NEWLY INSTALLED LIGHTS

The Township is investigating recent acts of vandalism at Collins Lane Park where graffiti was sprayed on public surfaces and newly installed lights were intentionally damaged. These senseless acts not only harm public property but also hinder efforts to improve and beautify our community.

Public Works is working to clean the graffiti and make necessary repairs to the lighting. We urge residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the Police Department. Together, we can help protect and preserve our shared public spaces.

MAPLE SHADE PROJECT UPDATES SUMMER 2025

Maple Shade continues to make strides in infrastructure improvements throughout the community. In response to persistent drainage issues, the Township will be submitting a FY2026 NJDOT Municipal Aid application for improvements to Thomas Avenue, along with a Local Transportation Projects Fund (LTPF) application to support the effort.

Traffic calming measures are also being planned for High Street to improve safety for motorists and pedestrians alike. Meanwhile, sidewalk improvements are scheduled near Howard R. Yocum Elementary School. Bids for this project were received on April 17th and awarded to S. Batata Construction, Inc. for $97,850. Construction is set to begin shortly after school lets out for summer break.

Additional roadwork is moving forward as part of the FY2023 NJDOT and Road Program for East Front Street and also Alexander Avenue. Bids were received on May 1st and awarded to Paving Plus, Inc., with $496,000 in total grant funding secured for the project.

Utility work is underway across town, including Phase 1 of the Main Street Pump Station Force Main Rehabilitation or Replacement, the Rose Avenue Water Main Replacement, scheduled for completion in June, and the Main Street Sewer Rehabilitation Project, set to begin in July.

These projects represent Maple Shade’s ongoing commitment to public safety, infrastructure renewal, and smart planning for the future.

RECYCLING IS REQUIRED

IN MAPLE SHADE -

NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE

Recycling is not just encouraged in Maple Shade - it’s required. Whether you live in a single-family home, multi-family dwelling, condominium, townhouse, or apartment, all residents are responsible for properly separating and disposing of recyclables. This includes common items such as paper, cardboard, glass bottles, aluminum cans, and plastic containers labeled #1, #2, and #5.

Recycling helps reduce waste, lower disposal costs, and protect our environment. Burlington County provides regular curbside recycling collection, and additional guidelines can be found by visiting the County Recycling webpage HERE or by contacting the County Recycling Department 609-499-1001. We ask that all residents do their part to follow local recycling rules and ensure that recyclable materials are kept out of the trash stream.

Let’s work together to keep Maple Shade clean, sustainable, and compliant with state and local recycling regulations.

WATER & SEWER

NOTICE

Our valve preventative maintenance program is ongoing. Our crews will be exercising the water main valves in the roadways along with completing regulatory inspections. Please use caution around the crew’s work area.

WATER UPDATE

Water system improvements on Rose Avenue are scheduled to begin in May. Please use caution around these areas during those times.

As warmer temperatures are upon us remember to inspect all of your outdoor hose bibs, hoses, sprayers, sprinklers and irrigation equipment for leaks. Keep in mind that when topping off pools, pressure washing around the house, using waterslides, and even washing your cars more often, can result in a slightly higher than normal water usage for those months.

SEWER UPDATE

Sewer main improvements in certain sections of Main Street have been awarded and are scheduled to begin in the early summer months.

WATER SERVICE LINE INVENTORY UPDATE

Per NJDEP regulations, all water systems must identify the water service lines that supply water to residential and commercial buildings. In 2022, the Township sent out two rounds of letters asking those with unknown lines to contact the utility to make an appointment. At that time the unknown lines total was over 500, our inventory currently stands at 157.

We need your help to complete the inventory. If you received a letter in November, please contact the utility to set up an appointment. The appointment takes just a few minutes, otherwise an excavation may be required to determine the service line material. The current inventory can be viewed HERE.
