Barbie Study Says Playing with Dolls Helps Kids Develop Empathy, Social Processing Skills

It turns out that playing with Barbies is more than just fun. A new study from Barbie and a team of neuroscientists at Cardiff University explored the impact of playing with dolls on a group of kids. Using neuroimaging, the team found that kids develop empathy and social processing skills through doll play. Read more…

Spielwarenmesse 2021 Postponed to Summer

Spielwarenmesse 2021, which would have taken place from Jan. 27-31, has been postponed to the summer due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The international toy show, one of the first to kick off toy fair season, has been called off due to rising coronavirus infection rates worldwide and further restrictions on travel, which would have put the health of its exhibitors and attendees at risk. Hasbro Unveils Mandalorian HasLab Crowdsourcing Project 

More than two years after launching its HasLab crowdsourcing platform at Toy Fair New York 2018, Hasbro Pulse is bringing Star Wars back into the fold. At the first-ever Hasbro PulseCon, members of the Hasbro Star Wars design team unveiled plans to create one of the biggest Star Wars vehicles ever released: the Razor Crest. Read more...

MGA Entertainment Adopts New Rescue Tales Line

MGA Entertainment is partnering with Best Friends Animal Society, a leading animal welfare society, as a part of its launch for the new Rescue Tales line. Kids can adopt a dalmatian, golden retriever, Rottweiler, or German Shepard. Each one features adoption accessories, such as a collar and adoption certificate, realistic sounds and movement, and a colorful doghouse that kids can color and decorate. Read more…

A familiar, koala-like alien is landing at Walgreens stores this fall. The retailer will serve as the exclusive destination for Playmates Toys‘ Stitch Interactive Figure. Inspired by the character from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Lilo and Stitch, the 6.5-inch Magic Motion Figure reacts to kids with more than 40 phrases and sounds in Stitch’s authentic voice. NRF Launches ‘New Holiday Traditions’ Campaign to Encourage Early Holiday Shopping

Shopping during the COVID-19 era is an evolving endeavor for both retailers and consumers as local restrictions, public health guidance, and personal opinions continue to shift, and in some cases, clash. Amazon Prime Day Confirmed as Two-Day October Event
