Substantially all assets of Rubie’s Costume Co. — which filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection in April — are headed to the auction block. Qualified bids are being accepted through Sept. 16, with a Sale Hearing set to take place on Sept. 23 before the Honorable Alan S. Trust, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge. Hasbro Reveals Plans for 2-Day PulseCon Event

Hasbro is joining the virtual convention circuit. Hasbro PulseCon will take place exclusively on the new Hasbro Pulse YouTube channel on Sept. 25-26, hosted by SYFY’s Jackie Jennings. During the 2-day event, fans will get to see panels, talent appearances, product giveaways, and more. There will be more than 50 product reveals and preorders in total for brands including Dungeons & Dragons, G.I. The Toy Association Meets with EPA to Advocate for Risk Management Rule

The Toy Association continues to advocate for its members on a variety of fronts, including those at the crossroads of technical and environmental concerns. On Aug. 28, The Toy Association’s Alan Kaufman, senior vice president of technical affairs, met with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler and Alexandra Dunn, assistant administrator at the U.S. EPA Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, to discuss a requested risk management rule that is viewed as a necessary action to implement the Frank R. Playmobil and Volkswagen (VW) have entered into a new licensing agreement for an iconic ride. The Playmobil VW Volkswagen T1 Camper Van will arrive at retail in January. The famed German toymaker took to Facebook and Twitter for the reveal, which followed a few days of teasing a VW collaboration that had been hidden under a black sheet mimicking real auto show reveals. Toy Fair Dallas Is Canceled, Toy Fair New York Postponed 

Confirming months of rumors and rumblings, The Toy Association confirmed that it will not proceed with Toy Fair Dallas this year. The annual fall event was slated to take place at the Dallas Market Center (DMC) from Oct. 6-8. Additionally, the Association made the decision not to go ahead with Toy Fair New York in February. The Association is working on a Spring Toy Fair offering of some kind while the Toy of The Year (TOTY) Awards and Hall of Fame induction will go virtual. Plans are underway for a refreshed Toy Fair New York experience in the expanded Javits Center for February 2022. Dates for the next Toy Fair Dallas and Toy Fair New York will be formally revealed later this month. Read more…

The LEGO Group Reports 14% Sales Boom in the First Half of 2020

The LEGO Group reported growth in the first half of the year as families turned to activities such as construction amid stay-at-home orders during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company reported a 14% sales increase with revenue spiking 7% to $15.7 billion DKK (approx. $2.5 billion USD). The company says that LEGO Technic, LEGO Speed Champions, LEGO Classic, LEGO Harry Potter, and LEGO Disney Princess were the top-selling themes in the first half of the year. Read more…
