“Home is the nicest word there is.” — Laura Ingalls Wilder

Here's what's happening in our Habitat...

Building Joy With A Safe, New Porch Deck

Earlier this month our Critical Repair Team Lead, Ben, helped provide 86-year-old Carole, with some much-needed freedom and peace of mind. Carole lives alone and has very limited means.

Her front porch had completely rotted due to a water pipe leak. The porch was so bad, that she told us her neighborhood mail carrier was even afraid to use it.

Ben removed the old rotten porch deck, cleaned up the area, and built her a sturdy, long-lasting new one. Now both she and her visitors can access her home safely and Carole's entryway matches the rest of her beautiful home.

What a Glorious Day at the Veterans Build Wall-Raising Event

Thank you to all the wonderful folks who came out to celebrate and help raise the walls on our first Veterans Build homes. In addition to the two Habitat families, we had Hazel St. neighbors, community representatives, our friends from VFW4760, and long-time supporters.

Board Chair (and veteran) Mark Hodgson provided a heartwarming Welcome followed by a beautiful blessing from our board faith leader, Rev. Kathi Gregoire.

We're grateful for the support and momentum of the build. If you'd like to be a part of this project you can:

Starting November 1st, both Habitat Clallam Stores will have Toys For Tots Barrels.

Stop by either of our Habitat Clallam stores to drop off new, unwrapped toys in collection boxes. We'll be collecting toys all the way through mid-December. After which, Toys for Tots coordinators pick them up for sorting. (This is why the donated toys much be unwrapped). Toys will be distributed in mid-to-late December.

We are very proud of our staff member, Kim, who brought this idea forward. She is a true embodiment of our core values; Making Community and Showing Care.

What was our fearless leader up to you ask?

She was busy helping build 30 homes at the annual Carter Work Project in St. Paul, Minnesota.

She spent multiple days hanging drywall, working with the soon-to-be homeowners and other Habitat leaders across the nation.

She's happy to tell you all about it, but don't ask her to help hang drywall. After 4 solid days, the only mud she ever wants to see again is on local hiking trails.

Where are all my Ghouls at?

Be sure to stop by on Halloween for some wicked treats.

The Boysand Girlare Back In Town

Reckless Dove is back and ready to rock!

Stop by the Habitat Sequim store on Friday, November 1st to join in the raucous (or is it rock-us??) good time!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Help A Local Veteran and Their Family

Feel Safe and Secure

You can support Habitat Clallam in many ways—not just by swinging a hammer! When you donate, you help build much-needed shelter and security for families in our community.

Every Donation Makes A Difference and the best way is to give monthly through our Carpenter's Club. Your impact is spread across the entire year, strengthening our programs.

It doesn't take much.

Did you know that with just a $10/month Carpenter Club donation, in a year you can help provide:

  • 10 cartons of nails, screws, and other hardware pieces
  • Multiple gallons of paint
  • Stabilizing grab bars (helping to prevent injury from falls, for less sure-footed homeowners)

And...

  • If you double your donation to just $20/ month, you can purchase a new energy-saving window, helping to keep a family warm and their utility bills reasonable.

Donate now and be sure to check the box next to: YES! I'd like to make my donation a Carpenter's Club recurring gift.

Together, let's build a better future for our brave veterans and other families.
