Lately, Bigfoot has been having a moment - turning up in memes, “sightings,” and (suspiciously?) AI-generated TikTok videos.
Bigfoot’s tracks may be elusive, but your volunteer footprints? Impossible to miss.
Whether you’re helping a client at our food pantry, sorting donations, or offering support, you leave a clear trail of compassion across our community.
Here’s a stat that might surprise you: top-performing nonprofits might see $6–$8 back for every dollar invested in volunteers. CRC? You’re giving us approximately $22 back for every $1 spent - a staggering ~2,100% return.
Now that’s the stuff of legends.

Tabling the Oceanside Juneteenth Festival
CRC joined many others at the Juneteenth Festival in Oceanside on Saturday, June 21st. Thank you to CRC Ambassadors Duke Skaff, Beth Whitteker, and Gayle Patterson for sharing our resources and mission with the community! Says volunteer Gayle, "Juneteenth is a fun and energetic event. It has a real sense of community, and I feel so proud to represent CRC as part of that community. The information regarding CRC was received with interest and gratitude. It does my heart good to feel like I'm making a difference to better our community for everyone."

Resale Store Team Makes Instant Impact
Over the past couple of weeks, the absence of many key volunteers—off enjoying well-deserved vacations—truly highlighted how much they contribute to our resale stores. Their return this week was felt immediately, with an impressive amount of work completed in just one day. As our store manager Robert said, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder,” and we couldn’t agree more. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, heart, and energy our volunteers bring to CRC’s mission. Whether they’ve been with us for years or are just getting started—like Amy Day, who’s new to store volunteering but already feels at home—each one plays a vital role. As Amy shared, “Robert, the staff, and the other volunteers make me feel so welcome—I feel like I’ve been here for years!” We truly appreciate every single one of our volunteers.

Congratulations to CRC's Volunteer of the Month, Beth Whitteker!
Beth has been an Ambassador and volunteer for nearly six years, starting out as a regular Holiday Baskets volunteer, and then getting more involved with our tabling and outreach opportunities. Beth recently purchased a new "opportunity wheel" to help make our booths more interactive and approachable. Having just tabled at the Juneteenth event, Beth says, "I volunteer because I strongly value serving and connecting with my community. At Juneteenth, I met a woman who told me with tears in her eyes that CRC saved her life almost 20 years ago when she was scared and alone. That hug made my day! I also connected with other organizations who make our community stronger. Volunteering for CRC helps my mental health and fosters a sense of self efficacy and resilience. Thank you CRC!"

If you are a high school student interested in learning more about CRC and becoming a better advocate for our mission, we encourage you to apply. Tell us why you want to join! Applications are due by August 1.
| | | | Increase Your Impact with Employee Matches | | |
Many businesses make small donations in recognition of volunteer service by their employees to the nonprofit organizations where they volunteer. Many of you give dozens if not hundreds of hours per year of volunteer service to CRC.
Most organizations require that the request for the volunteer service donation be made by their employee (and not the nonprofit organization.) Depending on the size of the business, the contact person may be in human resources, community relations, the company’s charitable foundation, or the owner.
If you are employed by a business, please consider looking into this option! Need assistance? Reach out to our Grants Manager!

Are you part of a group of 5-15 looking for a way to partner in CRC's mission? There are currently Food Pantry and Resale Store group opportunities available on some late afternoons and weekends. Tasks may include deep cleaning, sorting, or stocking items. A clean Food Pantry provides a more dignified shopping experience for our clients. And a clean store means happy customers!
