In April, the winning teams of the Mittal Institute's Seed for Change Competition were announced. Meet the student team behind Riskboard , an app that will help corporations and NGOs monitor instances of human rights abuses and political risk as they occur in India and, eventually, the entire region.
At the Arts First festival, Mittal Institute student grant recipients Nadyeli Quiroz and John Wagner unveiled a bamboo sunshade that addresses the need for public spaces within a Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh. Together, they'll use their project to inform future infrastructural interventions in the camp and improve refugee health and wellness.
Last week, Professor Rahul Mehrotra's Studio course on sanitation infrastructure in Mumbai culminated in student presentations to a panel of critics — which began a larger conversation that calls for a multidisciplinary approach to truly effect change in the settlement areas of Mumbai that need it most.
