Howdy, Trade and Industrial Members of ACTE!

Fall always feels like momentum season. Students are settling in, projects are underway, and we’re already eyeing the finish line for the semester. It’s a reminder of why we do what we do. Every spark you light in a lab, shop, or classroom sets the stage for tomorrow’s workforce.

This fall also brings opportunities to recognize the leaders in our field. The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), in partnership with SkillsUSA, is now accepting nominations for the National Trade and Industrial Education Division Awards, which will be presented at this year’s CareerTech VISION Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, Dec. 9–12. Please note these awards are separate from the ACTE Excellence Awards.

Nominations close Nov. 7, and self-nominations are welcome. If you nominate someone else, please make sure they’re notified. The award categories are listed below. We encourage you to participate!

It’s the season to sign up for your CTSO memberships, so don’t hesitate to reach out to your state directors. From SkillsUSA to TSA, your CTSOs are there to provide student leadership conferences, competitive events, employability resources and connections with business and industry.

Again, we can’t say it enough, but thank you for your commitment to our career and technical education (CTE) students, to your CTE programs, and to the community and family that surround you and your schools. October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and now is the perfect time to build your skills with no-cost online DHS/FEMA cybersecurity training available to any U.S. citizen through the National Cybersecurity Preparedness Consortium (NCPC). Student Video Contest: Gateway to the Cosmos — NASA’s Lunar Outpost

ACTE and NASA HUNCH invite students of all ages to enter the eighth annual Student Video Challenge: Gateway to the Cosmos — NASA’s Lunar Outpost. This year’s theme explores NASA’s Gateway as a vital stepping stone for humankind’s return to the moon and exploration of deep space. Students are challenged to imagine its impact on science, technology and humanity — while showcasing the CTE courses and careers that make it possible. Together, let’s celebrate a century of CTE excellence while inspiring the next generation of innovators who will lead us into the cosmos. Open to individuals or teams. Submit a two-minute video by April 1.
