"The Oscars have finally arrived and we’re rounding up the best earrings, bracelets, and necklaces to hit the Academy Award red carpet on Hollywood’s biggest night! Deep green emeralds and diamonds reigned supreme from Sofia Carson to Fan Bingbing. We also spotted glamourous chandelier earrings and spectacular shoulder dusters from Emily Blunt and Mindy Kaling. Stars like Sandra Oh, Florence Pugh, and Zoe Saldana pulled out all the stops with dazzling neck candy and even Danai Gurira and Michelle Yeoh added sparkle to their hair with over-the-top diamond necklaces. Brace yourselves for all the sparkle!"

LMHC
Examining Ruby Treatments
30th LMHC meeting reports progress,
harmonization of language used in laboratory reports

"The participants in the meeting also discussed and shared new research findings on the treatments of gemstones, and in particular corundum.

"In recent years, an increasing number of rubies and pink sapphires have come onto the market, after having previously undergone so-called “low-temperature heating” (below 1000 °C), meant to slightly shift their colour to a better hue.

Furthermore, as was reported in 2022, certain rubies and pink sapphires, some with a slightly purplish tint, have been treated by a limited number of individuals using radiotherapy equipment designed for cancer patients. This treatment can also induce a shift of the colour centre to a more attractive hue.

Georgian Jewelry Indicated More Than Wealth
Pieces reflecting sentiment and sustainability will be among the exhibits in “Style & Society: Dressing the Georgians,” a new show at Buckingham Palace.

March 12, 2023

LONDON — While the focus will be on the language of clothing at the exhibition “Style & Society: Dressing the Georgians” in the Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace, the jewelry of the era also speaks volumes.

“As with clothing, jewelry could be used to convey messages about the wearer’s power and influence,” Anna Reynolds, deputy surveyor of the King’s Pictures and this show’s curator, said in an email. “Jewels might be used to indicate dynastic connections — a bride might mark her marriage by appearing at court in the heirloom jewels of her new family — or loaned to friends to demonstrate shifting allegiances.”
