Travel & Tourism, as we emerge from the pandemic

Resilience is not only a strategy for recovery, but a necessary process to ultimately achieve sustainable tourism development.

Australia

Australia is open and ready to welcome you and your clients!

After nearly two years of pandemic-related closings, Australia reopened its international borders to travelers fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.

India

How Can Citizens of the United States Enter India During Coronavirus?

iVisa | Updated on Feb 28, 2022

There are new regulations for international visitors, including citizens of the United States, who wish to enter India. One of these requirements includes the Self-Declaration Form, a travel document which tracks the health information of visitors to India. US Citizens will need this document to have a smooth entry to India.

Nepal

Whether you are looking for adventures (safari, trekking, rafting), cultural experiences (festivals, UNESCO heritage sites, cuisines), or spiritual exploration (temples, monasteries, yatras), Nepal is ready to welcome you for Lifetime Experiences!

On-Arrival Visa Service and No Quarantine rule applies to the fully vaccinated travellers. Travel Guidelines: https://bit.ly/3srwx6t

What does resilience mean to tourism businesses?

"Resilient tourism businesses are those that bounce forward after adversities, because they are resistant to the impacts of disruption, as well as adaptive and sustainable in the face of crisis." - Bijan Khazai, CEO, Hotel Resilient

To be resistant of the impacts of disruption, destinations need to know how to manage risks when managing destinations. PATA's #TourismDestinationResilience Program will guide you step-by-step from identifying risks and possible crises, to measuring and managing them.

Let resilience be your spring for bouncing forward: https://bit.ly/35SKH7Q

Eric Mc Farran writes:

Three months in New Zealand have been quite different as I felt I had the country to myself as no international travelers or youthful backpackers.

The NZ Government has not established a detailed future tourism policy and many in hospitality have gone out of business. Question remains how quickly can new staff be trained if available and will the friendly Kiwi spirit ever return!

The last 30 years have been magic times for those of us in the South Pacific Tourism businesses. The country retains its magnificent beauty and I hope opens up sooner to Americans without forced isolation upon arrival.

J.P. Cone writes:

As a result of the rain-bomb in Brisbane, Australia, thousands of homes were under water or washed away. “My wife’s father suffered a heart attack as the flood waters in his home rose up to his neck. His descendants had migrated from Sweden to settle in Lismore, Australia, and more than 500 relatives with the same last name living in Lismore were affected.” We wish him a speedy recovery.

BJ Mikkelsen writes:

We are all watching the awful situation in Ukraine and the helpless situation that the people there are in currently. On Thursday Mar 03 I am flying to Berlin, Germany, and I intend to make this trip count.

With the thousands of people fleeing into Poland and with so many organizations being overwhelmed trying to help, these are my thoughts:

My business associate in Berlin is lending me his Volvo for the days I am in town. I will stuff the car with groceries and supplies and drive it to Warsaw (a 6 hour drive).

Should I be able to deliver food and a check, I will be very happy. BJ

Catherine Heald, Vice Chair writes:

So honored to have lunch with the #Nepal Consul General and the top ranks of PATA to discuss the future of tourism in one of our favorite #himalayan countries! With the 8 highest mountains in the world, it is absolutely breathtaking!!

What's new with Josh..

Josh Vasquez, outgoing Area Manager of Philippine Airlines, is being reassigned to the United Arab Emirates after serving in New York for five years.

Congratulations, Josh!

Thank you for your support to NY PATA

Best of luck in Dubai. You will be missed.

Appeal for Peace

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) strongly believes that tourism is a force for good and a driver for peace, building bridges for cultural empathy and understanding across borders. Therefore, we are deeply saddened by events happening in the world at this moment. War is never the answer.

Fujian Province

Bright cherry blossoms grow along both sides of the tea plantation path. Every year starting from late winter to early spring, different varieties of cherry blossoms bloom one after another in red, pink, white, and more colors. Fujian is a major tea production province and famous for its high-quality tea due to its suitable climate and natural resources. It enjoys a long history of producing wide varieties. Among six main tea categories, except for dark tea and yellow tea, Fujian produces all other categories: oolong tea, white tea, black tea and green tea.

International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity

How often do we underestimate the talent and capability of a woman but when we look around, we can see that they are doing such wonders! We have incredible women in our group who are breaking stereotypes each day. One day isn’t enough to celebrate the presence of women!

We look forward to seeing you on March 18th at the Travel Trade Summit.
