USTDA Participates in the White House Summit
on Global Development
Last week, President Obama hosted the White House Summit on Global Development and highlighted the development community's success in improving real lives and delivering real outcomes.

USTDA Director Zak led an afternoon discussion on Power Africa, a U.S. government-led partnership to increase access to energy in sub-Saharan Africa.

The Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise (ESLSE), representing the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, released an international tender for the procurement of eight reach stacker machines and related services. ESLSE provides coastal and international marine transport services between the port of Djibouti and ports throughout the Gulf, the Indian sub-continent and Asia. ESLSE also offers other shipping, logistics and dry port services in Ethiopia.

Brazil's Metro Company of the Federal District of Brasilia (Companhia do Metropolitano do Distrito Federal - 'MetrĂ´-DF') has announced the reopening of a tender for the provision of equipment to support modernizing the data transmission system of Line 1 of the Federal District Metro. This tender will also include assembly and installation.

Mexico: International Competitive Tender: Shared Network (Red Compartida) for Telecommunications Services
The Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT), has published an international competitive tender for the design, installation, operation and commercialization of a nationwide 4G mobile wholesale Shared Network (Red Compartida).

Transnet, a South African state-owned freight logistics company, recently issued a request for proposals for the design, financing, construction, operation, maintenance and eventual handover of an inland container terminal in Tambo-Springs. The objective of the project is to migrate rail-friendly cargo off the country's road network.

USTDA will host a Reverse Trade Mission (RTM) on Power Line Maintenance Training to connect U.S. industry with commercial and development opportunities in China. The RTM delegation will include of representatives of the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC). The two week agenda involves a traditional RTM where delegates meet with U.S. experts and suppliers of power line maintenance equipment, and there will also be a training program on safe maintenance of live power transmission lines.

Date: September 11, 2016 - September 25, 2016

The Study Tour, comprised of 20 delegates from CFDA, will begin in New Haven, CT where the delegation will participate in a week-long training program at Yale University.  This program will provide opportunities to learn U.S. FDA processes and a chance to hear perspectives from both scientists and clinicians.  Next, delegates will travel to the Washington, D.C. area to participate in site visits and meetings with USTDA, the U.S. FDA, relevant government agencies, healthcare and agriculture industry associations, and U.S. companies, focusing on pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical technology topics. 
South Africa Gas-to-Power Reverse Trade Mission
Date: September 12, 2016 - September 16, 2016

In the lead-up to the 
U.S.-Africa Business Forum, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency is hosting a reverse trade mission to introduce high-level representatives from South Africa's natural gas sector to state-of-the-art U.S. technologies, equipment and services that can support the implementation of gas-to-power projects in South Africa. The RTM will include meetings with public and private sector representatives from the U.S. natural gas industry and site visits that demonstrate U.S. gas-to-power technologies and infrastructure. 

Vietnam Natural Gas Sector Reverse Trade Mission (RTM)
Date: October 16, 2016 - October 29, 2016 

As announced  by the White House, USTDA is hosting the Vietnam Natural Gas Sector Reverse Trade Mission. The delegation will include up to 12 high-level representatives from Vietnam's energy sector seeking to modernize, expand and improve the overall efficiency and performance of the country's natural gas infrastructure.
As part of the Vietnam Natural Gas Sector Reverse Trade Mission there will be a one-day Business Briefing in Houston, Texas. This Business Briefing will provide a forum for 12 high-level representatives from Vietnam's energy sector to share information with U.S. companies on their needs, upcoming procurements and plans for natural gas development in Vietnam. One-on-one meetings with the delegates will be arranged for U.S. companies.
