What a fantastic whirlwind the first 6 months of the year have been!
|
|
Construction was complete the beginning of February and shortly afterwards we received our Residential Community Facility License from the Ohio Department of Health. By mid-February our first residents were moving in! From then through June, we have welcomed 51 new families into Traditions of Lebanon, with more scheduled to come! Thank you to all the wonderful Traditions of Lebanon employees that helped us to have such a smooth opening.
We had our first family event in June. It was so nice to see everyone come together and for families to be able to join us for the event. With a roasted pig, Hawaiian music, great decorations, and everyone dressed up it was a great time. We are so excited to celebrate our first holiday season this year!

|
Please keep an eye out for more family events coming up this year!
Please follow us on our Traditions of Lebanon Facebook page to keep informed of all the upcoming events and programs that we will be having!

I love to show off our beautiful community including our Villas, Club House, Dining Room/Pub and all of our Assisted Living and Memory Care areas. Our community is special in so many ways. It is visually beautiful to look at, but what makes it the best place to live and work is the beautiful hearts of our staff and residents.
We believe in providing the best quality of care for our residents as well as providing the best quality of life for them. We truly love the opportunity to work in the place where our residents live. In addition to creating a loving, family environment, we also strive to create a fun environment for residents, their families and our amazing staff. We get excited for each of our events that are hosted in our Pub/Dining area as we know that it brings joy and socialization to everyone that participates.

We encourage you to take advantage of all the activities and events we offer so that we can continue to grow as a big, wonderful family here at Traditions of Lebanon.

One of our newest Weekly Activities in Assisted Living and Independent Living is our Painting Club. We meet every Monday afternoon to enjoy some Art Therapy and Socialize in our Activity Room. We use Art Therapy techniques to help our residents emotionally and mentally decompress and express themselves, along with improving and exercising their motor-skills. Another way we include Art Therapy is scheduling artists around the community, such as The Community Studio, that come in and lead a Group Session for the residents.

There are a few safety items I would like to bring to everyone’s attention. These include walking hazards, high heat concerns, as well as comfort control.
Walking hazards can be anything that creates a tripping opportunity, slippery condition, or otherwise danger to your safety. Please limit placement of rugs or mats to entrance doors and make sure they don’t roll up or move around. Be aware of raised thresholds when walking through doors. Let me know if you see any transition strips needing repaired. Be extra careful when our staff is cleaning the carpets due to any cords that may be laying across the floor. Our biggest concern is if you are stepping on a hard, smooth surface after having wet shoes from moisture on the carpet. We put wet floor signs out when washing the carpet so please take note of the yellow signs signifying a slippery condition.

Lastly, please be careful in extreme temperatures. In addition to staying hydrated, be aware that outside surfaces such as patio furniture, and particularly metal objects, become very hot to the touch in the summer sun. Try to keep windows and doors securely closed during hot, humid days since air conditioners cannot compete with the atmosphere.
When adjusting thermostats, keep in mind that raising or lowering the desired temperature farther from the actual temperature does not help the air handler reach the desired temperature any faster! In fact, unrealistic expectations can cause the air handler to trip and stop working completely. It is best to always keep our temperatures in the upper-60s to low-70s for heat setting when it is cold and low to mid-70s for cooling when it is hot outside. Perhaps slightly warmer or cooler in personal spaces. But common areas need to stay in the 72-75°F range in the Summer and mid-70s in the Winter. This will keep everyone in a comfortable environment and keep air handlers from fighting with each other in neighboring areas.

The Varietas program is up and running in our Memory Care neighborhood at Traditions of Lebanon! The residents have been enjoying days filled with various activities to maximize their quality of life. We follow a routine each day to help our residents with Alzheimer’s and other dementias regain as much independence as possible.
Following a routine helps to reduce agitation, fear, and stress. Our routine includes expressive art such as rock painting. The residents gather rocks out of our garden weekly, paint them, and then display their rock art in the Varietas courtyard. The Varietas courtyard was painted a calming shade of blue to make it more appealing and soothing for our residents living with dementia. The concrete was painted a warm sand color. Changes in vision are one side effect with dementia. For instance, white is often unseen by a person living with dementia. Adding color to our courtyard was a priority for the use and enjoyment of our residents. The courtyard is enjoyed daily with everything from corn hole games to afternoon socials. We are excited to start planting flowers and herbs in our courtyard too.
In addition, Traditions of Lebanon holds a caregiver support meeting called Memory Keepers the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. If you are interested in joining, there are flyers with all the details on the table outside of the Varietas entrance or click button below.

Summer has arrived and we all tend to spend more time outside under the hot sun. Limit your time spent in the direct sun to only a few hours at a time. It is important to remember to hydrate frequently, wear a hat and use plenty of sunscreen.
Spending too much time in the sun can lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke. It is important to know the difference between the two.
Heat exhaustion occurs when the body loses excess amounts of water and salt, typically from sweating. Heat stroke is a serious medical emergency that occurs when your body is unable to control its internal temperature.
Knowing the signs and symptoms of these two conditions could save your life.
Remember to hydrate frequently while outside. WATER is the BEST source to keep our bodies hydrated and happy!!!! Wear a hat to keep from getting too much sun on your beautiful faces and always use sunscreen. Enjoy the beautiful outside but do so with care.
