Along about seven miles of Route 7, we're adding a third lane and shared-use paths in each direction, building a pedestrian underpass to access Colvin Run Mill Park, replacing and raising the bridge over Difficult Run, and making other intersection, bicycle and pedestrian improvements. Learn more.
Clearing Continues March 12
Crews working along Route 7 within VDOT right of way
Beginning on or about March 12 and extending into the spring months, crews will continue clearing and grubbing activities in the VDOT right of way along eastbound Route 7 between Carpers Farm Way and Old Ash Grove, including the Colvin Run and Difficult Run area. Weather permitting, drivers may encounter single-lane and shoulder closures Mondays through Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Fridays, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., while the clearing crews prepare these areas for construction that will add a lane and shared-use path in each direction of Route 7.
Please note crews are only working within the VDOT right of way. Work on private property along the corridor will not start until rights are acquired from property owners.
As a reminder, the Route 7 speed limit has been reduced to 45 miles per hour in active work zones between Reston Avenue and Jarrett Valley Drive, and Virginia law prohibits the use of handheld cell phones while driving through an active work zone.
Please use caution and be alert to work zone signs, potential flagger or police direction, and watch for traffic shifts. Slow-moving vehicles and equipment may be entering or exiting the road.
You can get project updates weekly! Visit theRoute 7 web sitefor the latest on work progress and lane closures.
