Along about seven miles of Route 7, we're adding a third lane and shared-use paths in each direction, building a pedestrian underpass to access Colvin Run Mill Park, replacing and raising the bridge over Difficult Run, and making other intersection, bicycle and pedestrian improvements. Learn more.

Towlston Road Improvements to Open Oct. 20, 2019

On or about Sunday, Oct. 20, a shared left-turn and through lane on southbound Towlston Road will open to drivers, providing 250 feet of space for vehicles turning onto eastbound Route 7 or crossing Route 7 to continue on Towlston Road.

As drivers on southbound Towlston Road approach the intersection, right-turn traffic to westbound Route 7 will use the right lane. Drivers continuing straight across Route 7 on southbound Towlston Road or turning left onto eastbound Route 7 will use the left lane.

A cooperative collaboration with Toll Brothers facilitated the accelerated opening of these early improvements. Additional permanent improvements on Towlston Road will be constructed as part of the Route 7 Corridor Improvements Project.

Please note that the speed limit along Route 7 has been reduced to 45 miles per hour in active work zones between Reston Avenue and Delta Glen Court.

Please use caution and be alert to signs, as well as potential flagger or police direction in work zones. Slow-moving vehicles and equipment may be entering and exiting the road.
