October Traffic: Plan Ahead

Halloween Season is in full swing in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow. The following information about activities over the next two weekends should help you plan ahead, whether you intend to join the fun or whether you need to get across town.

Sleepy Hollow: October 17 -19

Sleepy Hollow is hosting their annual Block Party and Haunted Hayride this weekend. Check out their detailed e-blast for parking and traffic information.

The following is information they have posted about street closures:

• Beekman Avenue from Pocantico Street to Route 9 will be closed from 2:00pm to Midnight on Oct. 17 and 18.

• Parking is limited and traffic delays are expected. Visitors from NYC and neighboring rivertowns are urged to travel to Sleepy Hollow by train, aboard Metro-North’s Hudson Line, with two stations within walking distance of the Block Party – Tarrytown Station and Philipse Manor Station.

• From other destinations in Rockland or Westchester County consider mass-transit options (Hudson Link or Bee Line) or ride services such as Uber.

• If you must travel to the area by car, visitors arriving from Rockland County or from the south are urged to park at the Tarrytown Train Station.

• A secondary parking lot if traveling from the south is located within Hudson Harbor adjacent to the Tarrytown Department of Public Works, across the street from 41 Hudson View Way.

• If traveling by car from the north, proceed from Route 9 to Pocantico Street, turn right on Continental Avenue to “East Parcel” parking at 60 Continental Street.

Local residents in Sleepy Hollow or Tarrytown are urged to walk to the Block Party or Hayride if they are attending.

Contingency Detours: During the course of the Block Party, should traffic exceed safe levels for emergency service access, additional closures will be initiated.

Route 9 southbound will close from Route 117 and will be open to local residents only.

Route 9 northbound will close at Benedict Avenue in Tarrytown and will be open to local residents only.

TELL YOUR FRIENDS

If you have friends visiting on the day of the parade, please encourage them to park at a neighboring municipality and take the train. Our neighbors have other fun happenings going on the 25th. Park in Hastings on Hudson, and check out their Scarecrows's Ball at the Good Witch Coffee Shop before parade time. Park in Croton on Hudson and check out the pet costume parade!
