SACRAMENTO – Work on the $511.1 million U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Multimodal Corridor Enhancement “Fix50” Project continues with a 45-hour closure of the inside lanes #1, #2 and #3 on westbound US 50 in Sacramento. Realignment for this work will begin around 26th street and will end west of the 10th street off-ramp.
The extended closure is necessary to remove and replace a 280-foot section of damaged concrete located in lanes #1 and #2. Lane #3 will be closed to provide a safety buffer for workers and equipment. The outside westbound lanes #4 and #5 will remain open to traffic.
Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling through the work zone and be alert for construction vehicles entering and exiting the median work area.
Caltrans urges motorists to avoid distractions and pay attention to signage placed strategically throughout the project and surrounding Sacramento area to stay informed about the lane closures and traffic impacts.
Schedule: Friday, July 11 at 9 p.m. through Sunday, July 13 at 5 p.m.
Suggested Detour: Caltrans advises motorists traveling north on SR 99 who were planning to take the US 50 connector ramp, to use northbound I-5. For motorists traveling south on westbound Business 80 to the US 50 connector, use southbound I-5. For motorists traveling west on US 50, use alternate routes to avoid extended delays.
