WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The annual reports have been submitted by our FaithWorks' Ministry Partners.

The need for FaithWorks’ ministry partners’ services has

INCREASED 35%

this past year over the previous year.

The requests for funding for 2023 are

20% ABOVE

the funds provided in 2022.

But, we are on track

to just barely raise the same funding as last year!

Let's make this truly

A SEASON OF GIVING!

The following article about

our ministry partner,

The Dam in Mississauga,

is an example of the work that your donation to FaithWorks supports.

Remembering warmer days …

The Dam’s Cooksville location celebrates its 10th anniversary.

By Peter Mentis

This past September I stopped by the Cooksville location of The Dam, on Hurontario St. at Dundas St. across from T. L. Kennedy Sec. School. I was hosted by Carol Reist, Executive Director, to enjoy the BBQ offered to celebrate their 10th anniversary at this second location. It was a beehive of activity as school was letting out and a steady stream of students crossed the street to hang out with friends at The Dam.

The BBQ might have been special, but this gathering of young people is the norm everyday. “Why? Adolescence is a difficult time of life, and many young people seek an understanding of where they belong. In The Dam, everyone finds belonging, a basic human need. From the safety of being part of something, they find connections to friends, values and their self-worth. It is then that they can grow, gain confidence and become leaders.” ( https://www.thedam.org/about )

Yes, every community needs The Dam!

The anniversary celebration began a busy return to school. “During these last four months staff have been adjusting to this new season: Publishing our annual report, a re-launch of our programs for youth, celebrating Cooksville's 10th anniversary, daily food preparations and strategizing for the coming months. As we kick-off so many initiatives, it also means a growing number in attendance. Compared to past years at The Dam, for the beginning of this school year of 2022 we are sitting at our highest attendance rate, an unmatched 7,467. The drop-in attendance over the previous 6 months has more than doubled at both our Cooksville and Meadowvale locations. The numbers speak to the need for youth to belong, connect and lead in an inclusive community where all are valued.

Yet in our celebration of welcoming youth to The Dam, these growing numbers mean an increased need for help.”

(The Dam newsletter 27 October 2022)

As stated in the first article of this newsletter, all of FaithWorks’ ministry partners have indicated an increased need in their services, and so increased costs.

As we celebrate Christmas,

let us also celebrate the work of our ministry partners

by giving just a little more this year

to help with these works of faith that FaithWorks supports.

It's the year-end countdown!

11 days until Christmas!

There are also only 18 days left in 2022.

May I remind you that it is time to review your charitable pledges and intentions for 2022.

This continues to be a difficult year economically. We are still called "to be generous and trusting" as Archbishop Welby reminds us. Join the FaithWorks' 2022 campaign as we continue to work towards our annual goal of $1.5 million.

We hope to reach our goal to be able to offer the same funding as last year to our ministry partners who offer support and comfort to the most vulnerable among us. We would like to exceed that goal to offer more assistance to our existing ministry partners and help the new applicants seeking our support for the first time.

Let’s all review our charitable intentions and pledges and be as generous as we can in 2022!
