STAFF UPDATE
The Polk County Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg. They will be handling all youth sports, day camp, aquatic, and fitness programming. This frees US up to offer lots of new great programming for the county! If you would like to sign up for our general newsletter, email us: lbaird@polknc.org.
We will still be sending out these trails-only newsletters to keep everyone connected regarding the amazing work all of the trail groups are doing around Polk County.
Going forward, Laura Baird is the Outdoor Programs Coordinator. She will be handling all trail maintenance and volunteer workdays for the county, in addition to running the new programs, including hikes, campfires, etc. We are in the process of hiring a permanent director.
WE GOT THE PARTF GRANT!
Polk County has been awarded the long-awaited PARTF grant! Now we can continue our mountain bike trail network, adding picnic areas and a bike repair station, continuing work on the Rec Complex by adding cornhole and horseshoe courts in addition to new playground equipment, and building an outdoor classroom with Polk County Middle School! Bring plenty of water, snacks, and a lunch.
This hike will be 11-12 miles and will take at least 5 hours.

MIND YOUR MANNERS
Most trails, if they are open, may not have public facilities that are open, so check ahead of time. If you are sick, PLEASE stay home. If a trail is crowded, please travel to a different spot so you can practice social distancing. Other trail courtesies also still apply: keep dogs on-leash, take your trash with you, etc. Thanks for doing your part!
