Virtual Scavenger Hunt, Plus New Handout Available!

Hello facilitator friends!

Last week I built out my first Virtual Scavenger Hunt for a client and it was so much fun!  I incorporated team activities like Word Circles, Puzzle Slides and had groups deciphering Morse Code to then search Google Earth for specific coordinates to find a unique rooftop for a clue.  I incorporated debriefing activities and movement activities throughout the hunt to ensure it wasn't just a Team Bonding experience, that there was true experiential learning and fun along the way. I still facilitated the process with the group so it wasn't too unlike what I would do if we were all in the same room.  There was adventure, problem-solving, process, communication skills and other directly relatable, transferable learning back to the real world.  The client was thrilled and wants me to build out several more hunts!  Hooray!   I plan to host a Facilitator Virtual Scavenger Hunt in a few weeks to let you experience the fun.

I have one person in particular to thank for being an excellent role model for me in the Scavenger Hunt world, Dave Blum.  Dr Clue as he is commonly referred to, has built out over 150 in-person Scavenger Hunts all over the world.  Dave and I met at a conference over a decade ago, and we have stayed in touch over the years.  He recently built out a few Virtual Scavenger Hunts and invited me to attend his beta-test runs.  I learned so much from him in such a short time.  It was fun to see him incorporate some of the activities he learned from me in his hunts as well.  It's all about learning from each other!

As we get progressively deeper into the days, weeks and months of social distancing, I'm loving the evolution of virtual team building and how the facilitator community is adapting to the ever-changing needs and demands of the world.  Keep up the great work!  I personally benefited from being a participant in a few Zoom sessions last week, giving myself the opportunity to learn from other great facilitators in the field.  I certainly learned new tips & tricks from Chris Cavert, John Losey, Solomon Masala, Kendra Bostwick, Bryn Lottig, Mark Collard, Chad Littlefield and Will Wise, all of which are doing great things.

NEW HANDOUT ALERT!  If you are new to this newsletter and want to watch the recordings from the past three Zoom sessions on Virtual Team Building Games, you can find them on our YouTube Channel.  Feel free to hit the 'subscribe' button so you get a notification whenever we upload a new video!  Here is a link to the free downloadable handouts that accompany the workshops, including the most recent session on Virtual Team Building Activities - Part 3.  Feel free to share this with anyone who might be interested.

Best wishes to you and your loved ones to be healthy, safe and to be virtually connected.

Have fun out there,
Michelle
