Help or Hurt: The Relationship Between Marijuana & Mental Health

Join us this month to learn about the impact of Cannabis on mental health. Cannabis is unique in that our culture believes it is both a medicinal and recreational drug. Exploring the relationship between marijuana use and mental health, we will work to establish a baseline for what today's marijuana is, discover the complexities of treating mental illness including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and suicide, and hear stories and case studies of what is happening in our communities.
No registration required. MATFORCE is partnering with Yavapai County Community Health Services' Health Talks: A Wellness and Prevention Series. The series is hosted by Prescott Valley Public Library.

National Recovery Month is a national observance held every September to promote and support new evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, the nation’s strong and proud recovery community, and the dedication of service providers and communities who make recovery in all its forms possible.
MATFORCE, and event sponsors including Decision Point, Wolf Creek Recovery, and Oxford House, bring this year's celebration to a new location, Prescott Mile High Middle School's track/football field.
Food trucks, a coffee truck, music, resources/vendors, testimonies, kids activities and a community art exhibit will help honor the theme of "The Art of Recovery."

Parenting the Love and Logic Way

The Love and Logic approach to parenting is built on the idea that an authentic, loving connection between parents and their children forms the foundation of good behavior and healthy decision-making.
Over the course of the class, facilitators will discuss the challenges parents and caregivers face with their children on a daily basis. They will teach strategies on how to discipline kids without losing their love and respect, help children develop personal responsibility and good decision-making skills, nurture long-term relationships and reinforce good behavior.
