On November 28 at 2204 local time, our brand new race boat ‘Mālama’ crossed the finish line of the Transat Jacques Vabre in Fort-de-France, Martinique.
After 21 days, 13 hours, 37 minutes and 20 seconds crossing the Atlantic Ocean from Le Havre in France, co-skippers Charlie Enright and Pascal Bidégorry took 13th place in the IMOCA Class (full rankings here).
Haunted by unseasonably light winds and onboard 'gremlins' that come with racing a new boat almost straight out of the build shed, this first transatlantic crossing for Mālama was a race of two halves, and a huge accomplishment for the whole team.
After a quick turnaround, Mālama set off from the beautiful blue waters of Martinique to head back to our home base in France on Wednesday afternoon.
