Review: Delegation Trip on E-Mobility
Lessons learned: Legal requirements, trends and energy storage
The Delegation Trip covering E-Mobility led our U.S. delegates to the German cities: Munich, Dresden, Chemnitz and Hannover.

Overall takeaways of the week included:
  • Both countries face similar challenges in building up the electrical infrastructure and think ahead what the street of the future will/needs to look like to accommodate the technology of the future
  • A major trend seen in both countries are small electrical city vehicles, E-Scooters in the US and E-Bikes in Germany. The popularity of small sized electrical city vehicles could pave the way for more comprehensive acceptance for E-Cars as well.
  • Hydrogen is seen as a key future energy carrier, with hydrogen fuel cell technology regarded as a viable alternative to battery power.

What Participants Say
"The Transatlantic Cluster Initiative on the subject of "E-Mobility" facilitated excellent networking opportunities between leading German and American industrial clusters and market players in the mobility industry. The programs, organized by GACC Midwest, in the USA and Germany promoted knowledge transfer between delegation participants, companies, and institutions.

The events in the USA offered excellent insights into regulations as well as industry-specific technology- and infrastructure developments. During the return visit, Northern Germany was able to present itself as an outstanding mobility location in Europe.

The Cluster Initiative enabled me to create substantial connections for Automotive Nord e.V., to promote international exchange and to initiate approaches for cooperation and joint projects."

Oliver Schrader, General Manager, Automotive Nord e.V.
