Applying to Private Colleges

Considering Applying to a Private College?

Many private colleges and universities utilize a holistic approach to reviewing prospective transfer applicants. This approach usually considers your academics (e.g. GPA, enrollment, rigor of coursework), and personal qualities.

To learn about your personal qualities, universities may require personal essays and letters of recommendation.

You may consider participating in activities such as student government, volunteer experiences, internships, or work experience to enhance your learning and application materials.

For advice on getting a great letter of recommendation, read here

Meet Jennifer Sotelo

In 2022, Jennifer Sotelo transferred to CSU Fullerton as an Art History major.

What do you enjoy about your transfer university?

What I enjoy most about CSUF is the opportunity and offers of a variety resources available to its students. From mindfulness, a beautiful and extraordinary library to creative safe spaces in which students engage and develop skills. The staff is extremely supportive and go above and beyond to guide students through courses. Their devotion and philosophies make for a wonderful wholesome experience. The atmosphere CSUF has created is unmatched.

What transfer advice would you give to future FC transfer students?

My advice is to prioritize your education. Manage your time, communicate with professors and develop a healthy mindful lifestyle is a great way to enjoy your experience at CSUF.
