Congratulations on Your Transfer to Penn State!
We are excited that you are joining us at the University Park campus this fall.
My name is Becki Leonard and I serve as the Assistant Director for Transition Programs in Student Orientation and Transition Programs (SOTP) at University Park. SOTP will serve as a source of information and support for you as you prepare to transition to University Park.

We’re eagerly planning for your arrival and hope you’ll join us for the programs we will be offering you in the near future. In addition to programming, you can expect to see a monthly email newsletter in your inbox sharing information about the transition, skills that will be essential to your success, and campus resources that will be important in your first semester at University Park. 
Orientation
We know you're not new to college, but you are new to Penn State. Because of this, we've developed a virtual orientation program that will help you learn more about the expectations and resources at Penn State.

There are two remaining virtual orientation sessions available this summer. You can view the dates and register using your tasklist.
Take Action
You aren’t alone in transferring. In fact, about 350 students transfer to University Park each fall. To help you make the transition, we have developed a list of items that you should work to complete before the fall semester starts. You can access the task list from this website.  
 
Continue to reference the tasklist throughout the summer to make sure you are on track to have everything complete before the fall semester starts. There may be items on the tasklist that you hadn’t considered before. In addition to referencing your tasklist, be sure to continue to check your Penn State email regularly throughout the summer. SOTP, the academic colleges, your new adviser, and other important resources on campus will likely be reaching out with important information for your transfer—you won’t want to miss it!

The key to thriving as a transfer student is to take advantage of the programs, resources, and information you are offered. You will find that there are a lot of places you can go and events you can attend while you are at University Park. During your first semester at University Park, it is important that you are intentional about attending events and plugging into resources that will not only provide you with information that you need, but also help you feel like a part of the University Park community. 
 
Becca Zeiner, a third-year Communication Sciences and Disorders major who changed campuses from Berks to University Park, shares:

“It is important to engage with resources and information during your [transfer] because it helps you learn about your journey before you get to your new campus. It helped me reach out to my faculty and staff to get a foot in the door in my major and make my name known. Also, knowing the different resources available to me helped my transition become easier.”

If you are planning to visit University Park over the summer, take advantage of our Explore University Park webpage. We’ve created this page to help you plan where you should go and who you may want to talk to while you are on campus. Visiting campus this summer as a transfer student is not required, but this webpage will help you make the most of your visit if you choose to do so.
