January 2026

As we step into 2026, we’re celebrating an incredible milestone—serving 248 precious babies this past year, each one a reminder of why this mission matters. What a blessing it is to walk alongside so many families, made possible because of your unwavering support. Today, we are actively supporting more than 130 pregnant moms (yes, you read that right—130 pregnant moms) who want to make sure their babies are okay, who want to parent, and who are determined to do what’s right—moving from fear and hopelessness to confidence and hope. Your generosity and belief in this mission make this work possible, and we are beyond grateful for the love you show our families. Here’s to 2026 and the lives we will continue to change together.

When Ashlee first heard about Hushabye Nursery, she was pregnant and sitting in a methadone clinic called New Hope. Like so many expecting parents facing uncertainty, she didn’t know what the future would hold—but she knew she needed support.

Ashlee's first impression of Hushabye was shaped by a simple but life-changing moment: meeting Clarissa. “She was amazing,” she shared. “She made me feel like I wasn’t alone and that I had support.” That feeling—being seen, welcomed, and believed in—became a turning point.

When asked what advice she would give to someone who is pregnant and looking for guidance, Ashlee's message is clear and powerful: “Call Hushabye and talk to anyone there. You are not alone. It’s possible to change your life for the better and keep your baby.”

Her hope extends beyond the present. One day, when her children are older, she plans to tell them:

“You can overcome any obstacles life throws at you.”

Ashlee describes Hushabye Nursery in just three words—supportive, caring, and amazing—but her story shows how deep that impact truly runs.

Today, she is most proud of a remarkable accomplishment: launching a new nonprofit called MTL Homestead. This future program will provide sober living and rehabilitation support for families with children of any age, with a unique focus on teaching families how to farm, grow their own food, and build healthy, connected lives together.

Ashlee's journey is a powerful reminder of what is possible when compassion meets opportunity—and how support at the right moment can ripple outward, changing not just one life, but many.

Congratulations to Janelle

Janelle, you are the definition of grace under fire. You never say no, you never complain, and somehow you always manage to do it all with the brightest smile on your face.

Our families trust you instantly because you meet them exactly where they are. You know what to say, how to say it, and you teach every single one of us something new every single day. Your talent stretches from writing remarkable grants to taking the most beautiful baby pictures we’ve ever seen. Your resilience, your kindness, and your heart show up in so many areas of hushabye

Janelle, you make Hushabye better — for our babies, for our families, and for every single one of us. Congratulations on being our December World Changer. You deserve this so much.

We work hard for the families and little ones who need our specialty care, so when the community notices what we are doing makes a difference, our heart swells with pride.

Anne Garrett’s connection to Hushabye Nursery began where her heart has always lived—at the bedside of newborns. As a pediatrician rounding in local hospitals, Anne had seen firsthand how vulnerable substance-exposed infants can be. Following a tour of Hushabye’s new facility and a meeting with Tara, Anne knew she wanted to be involved.

“I was immediately impressed by Tara’s passion and the mission of the organization,” Anne shares. “Having cared for these fragile newborns in the past, I could clearly see the difference Hushabye could make in the lives of both babies and their families.”

What Anne loves most about serving on the Hushabye Board is witnessing the organization’s growth and collaboration. “It’s incredibly gratifying to see how far Hushabye has come and to experience the unique gifts each board member brings to the table. Our regular meetings really reflect a shared commitment to the mission.”

Anne is a pediatrician who has served the Scottsdale and Phoenix communities since 1988. She retired from full-time practice in 2023 and now works part-time, though stepping back hasn’t been easy. “After 40 years, I’m enjoying no call, no rounding, and no weekends—but I still have a hard time not working just a little bit,” she laughs.

Outside of medicine, Anne’s life is filled with adventure. She and her husband are avid travelers, hikers, and lovers of culture. In 1986, the two quit their jobs and traveled the world for a year with backpacks, a Lonely Planet guidebook, and a $10-a-day budget. Their journey included hiking in Switzerland and Germany, riding trains across Europe, India, and Nepal, hitchhiking, trekking to Everest Base Camp, biking across New Zealand, and countless unforgettable experiences. After returning home, they started their family and are now proud parents of three married children—spread across South Dakota, New York City, and Phoenix—with their first grandchild due in January. Anne’s husband is also retired after a long career as an aerospace engineer.

If you ask Anne’s family to describe her, they’ll say she is a confidant, caring, and compassionate—with “maybe a wee bit sarcastic” thrown in for good measure.

When asked if there’s anything else she’d like to share, Anne says simply, “It has been a privilege to be involved with Hushabye.”

And Hushabye is better because of her.
