| | Making Your IEEE Conference Name Work for You |
Are you organizing an IEEE conference? Here is a quick reference guide to our naming guidelines to help your event succeed while maintaining our shared standards of excellence.
When IEEE is a major supporter (50%+), you must include "IEEE" in your event name—this requirement brings the significant benefit of associating your conference with our globally recognized brand and reputation for excellence. For moderate support (25-49%), you're welcome to use our name too—it's good for visibility. (For smaller partnerships under 25%, special approval is needed.)
For fully IEEE events, we've designed these naming practices to benefit both organizers and attendees:
- Avoid "national" as IEEE conferences span many countries
- Use "international" when you've truly assembled voices from at least three countries
- Maintain consistent naming across all your promotional materials
- For recurring events, lead with the year (2025 IEEE Conference Name) for easy reference
These simple guidelines help ensure your conference is discoverable, properly indexed in research databases, and signals the quality standards attendees expect from IEEE-affiliated events.

| | Simplify Your IEEE Web Presence: Domain Naming Guidelines |
IEEE has updated its policy on domain names for IEEE-affiliated websites to ensure brand consistency and long-term usability.
Key Requirements:
-
All websites using "IEEE" in the domain must follow IEEE branding standards
- Standalone domains should use the format "ieee-[entityname].org" or "ieee[entityname].org"
- Domain names should be reusable and NOT include year indicators (e.g., avoid "ieeeicra2023.org")
- For annual events, use either subdomains (2026.ieee-icra.org) or subdirectories (ieee-icra.org/2026)
IEEE will handle domain purchases and maintenance for all IEEE entities, including proper configuration for hosting platforms.
To request a domain: Complete the IEEE Website and Social Media Site Registration Form, selecting "New domain establishment" as your request topic.
Ensure your materials align with official IEEE visual standards and guidelines.
| | Standardize Your IEEE Web Footer: Compliance Guidelines |
All IEEE sites must implement standardized footers to maintain brand consistency and provide essential resources to visitors.
Required Footer Elements:
-
Required Links: Home (first), Contact, Accessibility, Nondiscrimination Policy, IEEE Ethics Reporting, Terms & Disclosures, and IEEE Privacy Policy
-
Required Text: © Copyright 2025 IEEE – All rights reserved. A public charity, IEEE is the world's largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.
-
Design: Must have visual separation (border/background) and extend full width
All conference websites must update their footer content to reflect the current guidelines.
Make sure your website follows the latest IEEE footer requirements.
