One of those voices was Auntjuan Wiley, lovingly known as “Mr. Community,” and CEO of AIDS Walk South Dallas (photographed left). With over 35 years of service to people impacted by HIV/AIDS, STIs, and health disparities, Auntjuan spoke with the clarity of lived experience:
“This is not new—we’ve been here before. It didn’t stop us then, and it won’t stop us now. We’ll pivot and find ways to get the care our community needs.”
His words captured the spirit of resilience pulsing through the THICohort. Even in the face of cuts, our members are leaning into innovation, exploring sustainability models, and refusing to let barriers define the future of their communities.
That resilience is the heartbeat of the THICohort. In just two years, our first cohort reached over 38,000 people living with and vulnerable to HIV, along with their families and loved ones. And as this inaugural cohort prepares to conclude, Texas Pride Community Foundation is ready to welcome the next wave of movement makers.
Applications for our second THICohort are now open. If you or your organization are ready to build on this legacy of resilience and impact, we invite you to join us. Info sessions will be held Tuesday, September 23rd, at 1 PM and 6 PM. Click the THICohort graphic above to learn more.
The movement is alive. The challenges are real. And together, we are unstoppable.
