We're emailing to say THANK YOU to the 465 of you who donated to gs in 2017, and
to invite you to consider getting involved with our Transformative Resourcing opportunities in 2018. If you work with a foundation or funder network, we hope you'll consider our Transformative Leaders in Philanthropy (TLP) program - applications are due March 1st.
Friends,

All of us at generative somatics (gs) feel incredibly grateful --  In 2017, gs community members contributed a wide range of resources to gs - time, energy, skills, wisdom, spirit, partnership and... money! Below, w e've written a special thank you to the 465 of you who donated to gs in 2017.

In 2018, we will continue to develop our commitment to building resources for gs in ways that align with our organizational values, mission, and vision. We will build the leadership of gs students, teachers, and other community members in this work. We will deepen and build meaningful relationships with current and potential gs donors and funders.

We're excited to announce several opportunities to get involved:

Transformative Leaders in Philanthropy (TLP)

TLP dates: May 15th-18th.
Applications due: March 1st.

gs is partnering with the Ford Foundation to offer t his introductory embodied leadership program for leaders (staff, board, trustees, etc) in the funding world. Participants will connect with deeper purpose and build visions for our lives and work. TLP will offer funders an opportunity to build relationships across organization, and be in conversation and practice with one another about the particular challenges facing leaders in philanthropy in this political era. Embodiment for Major Donors: Zoom Series
In this political era, it is a challenge to figure out how all of us can make our most powerful contribution to resist oppression and work for change. We often hear from those with the ability to contribute significant financial resources to social and environmental justice movements that they want to be bolder in their leadership and giving, but don't know how or don't feel like they can. Participants in this Zoom series will be supported to navigate their role as major donors and grow their capacity to show up as donors in embodied, values-aligned, loving, rigorous and accountable ways. This Zoom (phone/video) series will be designed for owning class people, and will be open to participants from all class backgrounds . Find out more here. centered
Get Centered: Grassroots Fundraising Program

gs is a commitment to building resources for gs in ways that align with our organizational values, mission and vision. By the end of 2018, gs aims to raise $400,000 in contributions from 500 or more individual donors. To get there, we're inviting gs students, teachers, practitioners, partners, donors, funders and friends to practice embodied donor organizing. In July-August, participants will be invited on to two Zoom calls that will offer political education, skills building, and somatic practice related to embodied donor organizing. In September, participants will be supported to practice grassroots fundraising in support of gs. Find out more here.ty

Huge impact --
  • Donations allow gs to make programs accessible to innovative movement leaders; to poor and working class communities and communities of color; and to choose partnerships based on alignment with our values and strategy, not on financial capacity.
  • Donations support gs to build the strong and sustainable organization we need to meet the expressed desire for our work in social and environmental justice movements, and to fully implement our 2018-2020 Strategic Priorities.
  • And, finally, contributions from individuals give gs capacity to go beyond our traditional programming, to take risks, experiment, and innovate -- further developing theory and practice for the integration of embodied leadership, trauma healing, political education and community organizing.
