Monthly newsletter in a new format and style
This month, the Community Development Department is relaunching the monthly Transit Bulletin. We will send this email on the last Wednesday each month. Each edition, you will see the notice for the next Transit Advisory Committee meeting, transit news, actions to support transit, and a listing of public meetings. When we find interesting or relevant content, you will see it here.
To help people in Cambridge find this as well as other newsletters, alerts, reminders, and updates from City departments, the City has launched a new page at www.CambridgeMA.gov/Subscribe.
November Transit Advisory Committee Meeting
We hope to see you for the November 2018 Transit Advisory Committee meeting on November 7 at 5:30 PM at the Citywide Senior Center. This meeting will be held in conjunction with a Central Square Advisory Committee meeting to have a lively conversation about transit in Central Square. Please see the meeting agenda and RSVP below.
Launch event for Mount Auburn Street bus priority project
On Friday October 26th, Cambridge, Watertown, MBTA, MassDOT, DCR, ITDP, and the Barr Foundation celebrated the launch of the Mount Auburn Street bus priority lanes. Local and regional news covered the events.
Transit and transportation as issues in MA Governor campaign
In the race for Governor, transportation issues have become part of the conversation. The state of the MBTA was one topic in the first debate and the news media has continued to cover transportation issues as part of their campaign coverage.
MBTA considering fare policy changes with upgraded fare collection system
The MBTA is designing a new fare collection system and considering how to take advantage of opportunities that the new fare collection technology would allow. The T has mentioned time of day and distance-based pricing as potential considerations.The development of this new fare system has forced the pause of other MBTA fare collections projects.
MBTA awards contract for Red and Orange Line signal upgrades
The MBTA awarded a contract to Barletta Heavy Division to install a new signal system for the Red Line by 2021 and for the Orange Line by 2022. This contract is part of nearly $2 billion dollars in MBTA investments into the rapid transit system.

Transit Service Updates
Red Line-replacement bus shuttle service on weekends November 10 to December 2
The MBTA will be using shuttle buses to replace Red Line service between Alewife and Harvard on weekends from November 10 to December 2 to accommodate track work on the Red Line.
