- Shuttles replace Red Line service from Kendall through Broadway on weekends beginning Friday, November 16 due to the Building a Better T Project
From November 16 to December 15, shuttles will replace Red Line service on Fridays beginning at 8:45 PM and all day Saturday and Sunday. Normal service begins at the start of service Monday.
The following stops will be affected: Kendall/MIT, Charles MGH, Park St, Downtown Crossing, South Station, Broadway. This is the result of the MBTA's work on the
Red Line Improvement Project
.

Change!
- Buses move from lower to upper level of Harvard busway tunnel
On Monday, October 21, the MBTA closed the lower busway and relocated Routes 72, 74, 75, 77, 78, 86, and 96 to the upper busway. Routes 71 and 73 continue to board passengers on Mount Auburn Street at Story St.

Multiple Cambridge routes will be affected by the Better Bus Project in December
The MBTA plans to implement the additional changes proposed in the Better Bus Project later this year during the winter schedule change in late December. Among many other changes in the region, the following bus routes in Cambridge are planned to have additional changes in December:
- Route 1
- Route 64
- Routes 70/70A
- Routes 72, 74, 75

Transit Bulletin will have more details on these route changes.

Escalator and elevator closures
The MBTA has closed the following
escalators:
- Central - #360 - Up from the Alewife platform to street level for maintenance
- Alewife - #353 - Unavailable due to maintenance
The MBTA has closed the following
elevators:
- Central - #861 - between the Ashmont/Braintree platform and street level - through spring 2020 for replacement. Alternative access available by travelling to Kendall/MIT station and requesting then boarding an accessibility shuttle.
- Harvard - #821 - between the main lobby and street level - through end of 2019 for replacement. Alternate route available using Harvard elevator #973.
- Alewife - #815 - between the main lobby and parking garage - through the winter of 2019-20 while it is being replaced. Use the adjacent Alewife Elevator 814 as an alternative.

First Public Meeting on the West Station Area Transit Study
The West Station Area Transit study is a new scenario planning analysis to determine the land use and transit future of West Station in Allston. At this forum, learn more about the study and give feedback on how we should evaluate transportation scenarios in the study. Doors will open at 6 PM and the forum will fun from 6:30 to 8 PM.

Tell us how River Street works (or doesn't work) for you today
The River Street Reconstruction project will refresh outdated infrastructure above and below the street surface. Tell us your perceptions and thoughts about River Street today. Your answers will inform how the City designs the street and the City will compare responses before and after reconstruction. This survey should take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Boston Program Sr. Associate
- Institute for Transportation & Development Policy
The Boston Program Sr. Associate will play a key role in overseeing the conceptualization, design and implementation of sustainable transport solutions. The primary work area will be technical project management in greater Boston, specifically developing a BRT Roadmap planning document that considers infrastructure, operational, financial and communications components. The Manager must have a strong command of BRT service and infrastructure planning as well as a willingness to learn the latest international best practices for implementation in greater Boston.

Boston Program Intern - Institute for Transportation & Development Policy
The Boston Program Intern will work on a variety of projects related to work on the program's BRT initiatives in the Boston area. They will conduct research on sustainable transport best practices and policies, conduct literature review and data gathering/entry, and assist with social media updates and event planning.

The Boston Transportation Department is searching for a Director of Engineering who is well versed in state of the art tools and practices to create sustainable and multi-modal transportation networks including bicycle, pedestrian and transit focused street design and cutting edge safety treatments.

Bus Traffic Signal Systems Fellow - MBTA
The Bus Traffic Signal Systems Fellow will play a critical role supporting the MBTA and municipalities in developing and integrating the MBTA's transit signal priority system into existing or planned traffic signal networks and working with the MBTA and municipalities on other bus transit supportive signal improvements.
This position is project-specific and limited to June 2021. Employment beyond the two-year term is left to the discretion of the MBTA.

Municipal Engagement Fellow - MBTA
The Municipal Coordination Fellow will work directly with cities and towns to advocate for bus transit priority improvements, manage communication for technical assistance from the MBTA, provide general project management to support the development of a bus transit speed and reliability program, and coordinate the implementation of multimodal priorities of the MBTA, municipalities, and other relevant agencies.
This position is project-specific and limited to June 2021. Employment beyond the two-year term is left to the discretion of the MBTA.

Unexpected MBTA Orange Line closure on 10/21 causes chaotic commute
|
On Monday 10/21, an construction-related incident caused extended closures between Sullivan Square and Tufts Medical Center stations on the Orange Line. The unexpected delay overwhelmed service on the parallel Green Line and many bus routes until stations reopened at 2:30 PM that day. The incident involved two construction vehicles colliding between the Community College and North Stations. The MBTA investigating the incident.
