Greetings! ATN station design is an interesting topic. I have always thought that stations should be a simplistic as reasonably possible - just a platform and a roof - like a bus stop. Plus whatever is necessary to sell tickets and guide passengers to the right pod. This seems reasonable for a place where passengers will only wait for one to three minutes. Visit a Heathrow Airport PRT station to see what I mean.
I have recently learned of a project under construction where stations are being designed to include air conditioning, toilets, first aid room, baby feeding room, station control and maintenance room, public amenities room, ticket office, male and female staff rooms, spare parts room, electrical and system room.
Every study I have seen indicates that passengers value frequent service that is reliable and has reasonable costs. They want to spend as little time as possible in stations. I believe this is where we need to focus - not on providing all kinds of utilities that will increase costs and likely be underutilized. Of course each project needs to query its prospective passengers to decide how to balance station amenities with local preferences.
